Re: Collapsible Baton-Legal to Carry in Texas
Let's see, I can carry a firearm which can inflict a lot more damage than a baton, billy club, etc. Why not a baton? Wouldn't it be preferrable to use a baton to defend yourself in cases where a gun wouldn't be an option? No loss of life! Wonder what the reasoning is on the restrictions of batons?

RichardJ,
Congrats after a long wait. You may be the last April applicant to receive his/her license. Are there any others still waiting from April?

It may have been Mrs Oldgringo-6 months or more from my recollection. Don't know if there was anyone who waited longer.

ABN556,
If you're lucky you could have it by Saturday. If not Saturday, then Tuesday for sure. Kingswood isn't that far from Austin, is it? Congrats-I know it's been a long wait.

Questions about Conceal Carry
After 4+ months of waiting I finally received my CHL today and have several questions regarding procedure when stopped by LE. 1) I am stopped by Texas DPS/Sheriff's Office/Local Police Department. I show them my Driver's license and CHL license but on this particular day am not carrying. However, I ...

Christmas in August
Christmas came early this year like on Thursday, August 28th when I finally received my CHL license via the US Mail. It was a long and winding road and a rocky journey but it is now over, thank GOD. Submitted application April 17th-Received license August 28th. I will now take my leave of the "...

Re: April Applications
jg0351, Waiting for the U.S. Post Office to deliver your license is one of the hardest parts of this game. My license was supposed to have been mailed on Monday from Austin to El Paso. You wouldn't think it would take that long, would you? And each day that it doesn't arrive you are thinking "D...

Re: April Applications
vscott,
By this time you should have already emailed and written Jan Coffey outlining your situation to get her involved. Have you contacted your State Rep yet? It wouldn't hurt. Sometimes you just have to get proactive with these people.

Re: Stopped In To Say Hello
I don't think the wait is going to be necessarily long any more. Just saw one who got his in 77days. With all of the new personnel hired by the DPS, the new applicants may start seeing a difference in the return time for their licenses. Let's hope so anyway. I am hoping to get my license tomorrow if...

Re: April Applications
Well, I finally got some good news today. Called in for my weekly status check and spoke to Will. He indicated the background checks had been completed and looked favorable. However, when I asked him how much longer I was looking at he wouldn't hazard a guess. Stated the application had to go thru a...

I am also still waiting......and waiting......and waiting. Heather was supposed to have some good news for me Friday, August 22nd but I never heard from her despite sending her an email and leaving her a voice mail. I think someone here in my county is playing games with my application delaying it. ...
