Because the current CDC protocol is not to test vaccinated people with covid symptoms unless they're hospitalized. Purpose: to keep down the numbers of cases among the vaccinated to make it look like only the unvaccinated are coming down with the virus.

There is some importance to the US WRT the worldwide numbers, and also the numbers in specific countries.

One of the reasons the foreign and global numbers are important is that they have some predictive values for us. For instance, China just acknowledged earlier today (https://news.trust.org/item/20200404235657-jkjit) that they are experiencing a resurgence of new cases, after having previously claimed that they had beaten the pandemic in their country. Does that mean that WE may see a resurgence in numbers of cases after a respite? Either way, it’s a question worth investigating, just to be safe.

Another reason foreign numbers are important is that pandemics can be precursors for economic collapse, civil unrest, revolutions, and other catastrophic political changes around the world. And as much as we’d like to think that we are immune from the effects of these things, in a global economy, we aren’t. In fact, IF the pandemic's impact in our own country were bad enough, those things could happen here.....although I am hopeful that they would not.

Anyway, my point is that, on some levels, the COVID-19 statistics abroad may well have some kind of significance here at home.

If it worries you as much as your posts indicate, you should definitely stay at home. That is about the only "sure" way of avoiding it. It is no comparable death threat at all to young people and children.

While I agree with you that Cuomo is dishonest and not to be trusted, I read his action here differently. Closing that many businesses and interfering with that many jobs and lives is a very unpopular thing to do. My read is that he is truly scared about where COVID19 is going in his state.

Not to be rude, but Dr. Fink is a Primary Care doc, 30 years of practice with no publications, and no documented work with NIAD, CDC, etc.. Commonly expressed, "he's gassing." Daily Mail is also a step or two below CNN, so...

Time will tell.

IF the numbers and severity reports we're hearing now were true, I would agree with you.

However, I have serious doubts about both of those. China would not have shut down their industrial production and devastated their economy for somewhere around 3K deaths - that's a number they'd hardly notice.

I also saw videos from Chinese medics and citizens of young people dropping dead in the streets, doctors collapsing in hospitals, and stacks of corpses in a single clocation that far exceeded the daily death count they fed to the public before those citizen communications were stomped on.

I don't think Italy is imposing quarantine on their whole country because a few hundred folks have the sniffles either.

I see a much more significant threat here than the "don't worry" line we're being fed would indicate.

What is funny is that people allow the media hype to motivate them. I’m not telling anybody to not prepare, I’m telling people they are allowing hysteria to drive their actions. The facts is that your chances of getting this are low, but unless you have a weakened immune system you’ll most likely survive it if you do get it - just like when people get the flu. If you want to prepare so that you don’t get this then stay away from people that have it and wash your hands. While numbers from governments that lie all the time and hide bad news are all over the place, it's noteworthy that China shut down a huge portion of their economically critical industrial base for over a month and has been incinerating far more bodies than the deaths they've been reporting. It's also noteworthy that medical personnel are wearing high level biohazard suits while treating patients. They don't do that for our seasonal flu.

I agree that panic is both unwarranted and unhelpful. However, preparedness to remain isolated from the public for up to 90 days in the event the virus hits hard in your area would be a really good idea - sorta like carrying a gun in case you might need it.
