If that were the case, how would a school district justify having a Police Department?ScottDLS wrote:You can't. Has been tried before by one of the forum members here. PISD attorney claimed they were not a governmental entity, which is patently false, but they won't take them down. If you were arrested for 30.06 for carrying in the parking lot you would have a decent case for false arrest.

Re: CHL and picking your kids from school
From a legal standpoint they are invalid. A 30.06 sign posted on public property.Zoti wrote:I just want to update on this.
Today, I noticed that the parking lot entrance has a 30.06 sign. I have no idea how I didn't notice it before. I guess I was looking for one closer to the building or at the building entrance. I then drove and saw the same sign posted in the parking lot entrance to other schools so I guess it's a Plano ISD thing.

Re: CHL and picking your kids from school
As far as I know she can carry only if the School District authorizes it. Very few in Texas do.The Badger531 wrote:Ok i Have a Question,
My GirlFriend is a school Teacher in Texas and the school where she teaches is NOT posted and the school was just built so can she LEGALLY carry her Weapon into the school?..from what i (WE) understand it is a YES and with her being a teacher (FOR SECURITY REASONS) i CAN'T / WON'T GIVE HER NAME ON HERE Sorry for the caps but we just wanna make sure she doesn't lose her job over this and it's kinda funny cause she's talked to 2 different cops on this issue and they BOTH have different opinions on if she can or can't carry into the school any advice on this matter would be most helpfull.

Re: CHL and picking your kids from school
I don't recall a distance requirement. I think you may be referring to before the laws were changed regarding Gun-Free zones.Zoti wrote:I remember a certain distance restriction for schools. That means that if you sit on a bench where they bring out the kids then you are probably in violation of the law. The car pool is probably also within that range and also if I wail walk to where they have the "walkers" and pick him up.

Re: CHL and picking your kids from school
I park out front and sit on the bench right outside the front doors waiting on my son under the veranda. I never enter the building while carrying.
