Don't you think that it is time for something positive to come out of Congress regarding the 2A rather than the drivel that we have seen in the past?Rex B wrote:But NONE of them came from a bill passed by the US Congress and signed into law by the president.Purplehood wrote: there have been a whole lot of positive steps on the 2A front in the last decade.
.
In fact, nothing enacted by Congress since the BOR has had the purpose of expanding the recognition our firearm freedoms.
Who was it said (approximately) "Never is the public in peril save for when Congress is in session" ?

Re: National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011
From my point of view it is not bigger government. It is simplify reinforcing a right that has been trampled on since the end of the Civil War. I see this as a POSITIVE step. Believe it or not, there have been a whole lot of positive steps on the 2A front in the last decade.RiverCity.45 wrote:So bigger government is good, so long as it's a cause we support, but bad when it's not? Curious!
If you like, you can characterize each and every one of them as some sort of State or Federal imposition on our existing Constitutional right. I simply feel that it is PROGRESS in what has been a hostile environment for over a century now.

Anything can be manipulated to not meet the original intentions.
I look at this a positive step in the Public Eye. If passed it would lend a degree of legitimacy to the whole CHL/CCW movement.
I agree that the 2nd Amendment in and of itself should suffice, but until that happy-day should arrive, I am willing to take every baby-step necessary to get to that end.

That would eliminate the problem that PA chief described. Illinois still doesn't have to issue permits to their own citizens if they don't want to.

I look at it the same as if a state had to recognize your marriage, divorce or driver's license. I don't really see it as any infringement on a States rights.AEA wrote:http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/09 ... latestnews
If this passes, what happens with the hold out Illinois?
This should really torque up Bloomberg!
As much as this sounds too good to be true..........
It may be unconstitutional as the States have rights.
