Have you talked to your campus police about holding your weapon while you're in class? I know ours has a vault they store students weapons in when they come to the campus if they want to go hunting or for whatever reason.Monkey404error wrote:You hate disarming in the parking lot? I hate riding the public bus at 0-dark-hundred to be able to get to class. Riding to and from school, I always see the people that I'd normally try and avoid, and it scares me that in the event of an emergency, I can't defend myself if need be.

Re: Star Telegram article on School Carry
There's actually a decent sized interest group the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC) of which I am a campus leader at my university (which isn't saying much because I haven't actually started yet )jpierce30 wrote:I sure hope the school campus CHL carry thing comes through in the next session. I really don't like the thought of me or my children being in a "gun-free" zone. I want the ability to protect me and mine.
http://concealedcampus.org/ is the website, right now there is 31,610 members so far, so that's one thing that's being pushed by students also.

Re: Star Telegram article on School Carry
How many times has it been used in court I mean? Free speech and religion challenges happen all the time, but you don't see anyone suing the gvmt. because a national guardsman is in your house. It is used every day, but it's not challenged every day and is hardly ever brought up anywhere, just like a right should be!mr.72 wrote:actually that Amendment (right) is in use for each of us every day that we don't have troops housed in our home.
Remember that without these protections, we would live in a very different world. The fact that there is rarely a case of infringement of some rights is an indication of the government doing things right.

And you can't house troops in student's dorms either (I know it's technically not their property so we really have no say, but it's the first thing I could come up with, and I used a weird amendment that's probably only been used once in U.S. history)boomerang wrote:Allowing licensed concealed carry in universities? Next thing you know there will be student run newspapers, blogs and other free speech.

And not full of any statistics showing the 72 semesters in the 11 colleges that allow it showing no thefts of weapons, no incidents whatsoever actually.
