Short of a Federal Courthouse there is no reason we should not be able to carry on Federal Property. Sheesh! Look at al lthe Post Office threads we have seen, I still can figure out what the Feds think......maybe they can go write a few more laws, that should do the trick. You have a safe camping trip, sorry to rant in your thread.
I absolutely agree with you, no need to apologize for speaking your mind. I got the answer to my question, so the rest of the thread is open for discussion. I'm like most people here, I cringe a bit at having to jump through so many hoops to practice my right in the first place, but that's the breaks. Only thing I know to do is keep trying to elect gun-friendly pols and write, write, write. Maybe one day the silliness will end.

Edited to add: Y'all just remember my name when I run for office. ;-)

:totap: Oh! Boy! So you going to be frisking everyone looking for CHL's?
Forgive me but I don't like you attitude. I truly hope you had your tongue firmly planted in your cheek and was halfway making humor. I am sure there are real live bad guys you could be looking to catch rather than making threats toward the good citizens of Texas who carry hand guns.

Sorry Charles!

Eh, he's just doing his job. The law's the law, whether we agree or disagree with it. I don't like being unarmed any more than you do, but I would like to get some lake time in before my (final!) college semester starts.

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured that was going to be the answer, but I wanted to make double-darn-sure. Will leave the piece at home, then. Just be sure to keep us safe out there!

Lake O' the Pines question

Hey all,

A buddy of mine and I are planning to camp at Lake o' the Pines this weekend, so of course I wanted to be in the clear when it came to my CHL. I have to admit that I'm a little confused, though. The lake doesn't seem to meet any of the prohibited locations listed in my CHL handbook, but on their website they include the following section on firearms:

327.13 Explosives, Firearms, Other Weapons and Fireworks

(a) The possession of loaded firearms, ammunition, loaded projectile firing devices, bows and arrows, crossbows or other weapons is prohibited unless:

(1) in the possession of a Federal, state or local law enforcement officer;

(2) being used for hunting or fishing as permitted under Section 327.8, with devices being unloaded when being transported to, from or between hunting and fishing sites;

(3) being used at authorized shooting ranges; or

(4) written permission has been received from the District Commander.

(b) Possession of explosive or explosive devices of any kind, including fireworks or other pyrotechnics, is prohibited unless written permission has been received from the District Commander.

So how does one proceed? Can I carry? If not, can I leave my pistol in my truck, which will be parked at the campsite? Forgive my ignorance on this, but it wasn't covered in class.
