Re: OR cop OWNS open carry advocate
I think our rights must be carefully guarded and any attempt to reduce those rights must be fought. However, as members of society we also have obligations to those around us. Walking around with an AR on your back, even when legal, is certainly going to cause concern. The activists, in this case, w...

I think most of us are new testament when it comes to dealing with good people; but we quickly revert to old testament when set upon by bad guys.

There are no stupid questions. Just cause a guy knew something once doesn't mean he still knows it. I use to speak algebra...not so much any more.

Re: Stephen King risks wrath of NRA by releasing pro-gun con
I enjoy King's books; his writing style makes you feel you are "in" the story. But you gotta know, from some of the stuff he dreams up, that he is a little wacko.. I mean, come on, some of that stuff has to be artifically induced..

Re: Jury duty -- do we check our 2A rights at the door?
Been 5 or 6 years ago. Called for jury duty for Randall County -- in Canyon, Texas Panhandle. Showed my jury card to the lady at the metal detector, she had me and other jurists walk around the metal detectors. No questions about guns, knives, hand gernades. That is the way it should be, I do beleive.

Re: Pulled over driving last Saturday
We all have moments when our attention lags. However, a willfull decision to routinely exceed (or not achieve) the posted speed limit is not a responsible act. The concept of a speed zone is pretty simple...if everyone drove the limit, neither too fast or too slow, traffic would flow. Do you speed w...

You think maybe the officer picked up on atxtj's mood? And decided he (the officer) didn't know exactly what was causing it so he decided to err on the side of caution? "To be honest I was shaking like a leaf as I pulled the car over and pulled out my CHL, license and insurance. Mrs. atxtj look...

# 1 kinda happened to me several years ago...before chl. A car stopped at a stop sign right outside our office door. Secretary that sits in front of building yells at me that some guy in the car is hitting the girl driving the car. Secretary calls 911 and I step out of building and walk toward car, ...

Pardon me if my points have been made by someone else.. youse guys are windy and I didn't read everything.. 1. We, as citizens of the United States, have the RIGHT to move amoung the various states at will. 2. TSA actions (strip search) are not the result of laws, such as having to have a DL, wear a...

Re: Need career advice
All the smart books say you should only work at the job you love! I say, hogwash. If you are lucky enough to get that job, good for you. But, a job should never be your life, only the means whereby you are able to enjoy life. Let your life center around your God, your family, and your friends. Just ...

Good idea...but won't work even in Texas. Our Texas legislature won't stand up to the feds about illegal seaches conducted by the TSA...Sure hated to see them cower before the US attorney general.
Oh well...

Re: Encounter with Round Rock PD
I think the original point was that the RR police (1) exceeded their authority by demanding a ss #, and (2) were not interested in discussing the situation when the author tried to do so with management. It is often the attitude of the police that leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Yes, they have a jo...
