RECIT wrote:The demand and price of all black rifles has surged recently from the scare. Pistols have stayed the same, so relative value is always depending on the market at the time. I have seen way too many Kimbers floating around on this sites for sale section and a few other local sites. They seem to be priced like a steal or priced like its not used and people want what they payed for it and them some. But I guess the same has happened on black rifles too. According to trends my AR is worth more than I payed for it, but not my Springfield, Beretta, or Glock...
Well the scare is not over a ban on handguns, its on just those type of rifles. So basic econ, demand>supply and prices go up as items become more scarce. Lucky for us "assualt" rifles owners, now its not so much what you have its more that you plain have it and people want it before they THINK it will be outlawed. I'm sure you know, but you seem frustrated that all your guns are not worth more. Not all guns are created equal I suppose haha

Re: Kalashnikov IZHMASH Tactical 7.62x39

Saiga is the brand name, with Izmash being the manufacturer. Izmash is the original as well as (from what I have ascertained) the current producer of current production AKs (Ak-101,103,107...I don't know what they are on now haha) for the Russian Military. So for what it is worth, this seems to be as close to a real deal Russian as there is currently on the market. That being said, I still think that kits builds are going to be the best route if you want a well built AK. All Sagias coming into the US need to be heavily modified to become like the one you see so my concern would be fit and finish issues in that conversion process (couldn't be worse than what Century Arms puts out though). I don't know what your Kimber is worth, but knowing that they command a premium price I feel confident in saying that I think you would be getting the short end of the stick on that deal, but by a small margin. The Saiga's are plentiful and are not held in the high regard of some other AKs. Rifle + modifications = $500-650 depending on who is doing it. If it were a VEPR, I would have told him to give it to me now before he changed his mind!!
