Do your kids know that you carry ?

Our kids (13,13,18)know that we own guns (they don't live with us). We've taught them about gun safety. We take them shooting when we see them.

I had reservations about telling them that I carry a handgun. I was concerned that they would go and tell their friends/relatives and that would cause a mess.

After some thought, we decided to tell them. I figured it was better to discuss it with them , than for them to find out accidentally.

I explained that its no one's business but ours. I explained that I carry because I am concerned for our safety when we're out, especially when traveling. I didn't want to make them worry that someone was always out to get them, but I did stress that things sometime do happen-- and I wanted to be prepared. Hopefully this will help them raise their awareness of what is going on around them.
