What a tough situation to deal with. A few things come to mind...

1. There is no such thing as a "safe" part of town.

2. I need to remind my wife and son to never grab my arms during a threat.

3. I've reminded myself to never leave a populated area and proceed to an isolated, multi-level parking lot during a threat.

4. I think Abraham makes an excellent point. The minute he "interviewed" you with his question and then touched you, you should have proceeded to the nearest police officer with a complete description of the person. A person that has no respect for your personal space IS a dangerous person and should be dealt with by the police ASAP.

5. It was a good outcome. No matter how experienced or trained we are, we WILL make mistakes. Learn from them and go on from there.
