Re: Need Practical Advice - Situational Awareness Parking Lo
I park as far away as possible, while avoiding the edges of the lot. I prefer my car to be an "island" with dead space all around. Now, if I could use those handicapped spots right by the doors, I'd probably use them. Trading off some of the viewing area around the car for being in what is...

Re: 10mm Glocks at GunGear to Go
I've got a gen 3. Love it. Be forewarned, if you intend to do more than use it for a range toy, you'll be wanting to shoot it a fair bit. There's the only problem with 10mm: ammo. You won't be picking it up a WalMart when you pop in for ammo, a loaf of bread, and some socks. You may be able to pick ...

Re: Woman threatens to shoot teachers/kids at my kid's elem
Not saying I oppose police presence on campus, but just to play devils advocate, adding police isn't all rainbows a d cotton candy. Take a medium/small sized district with 12 elementary schools, 3 junior highs, a high school, and and alternative school. That's 16 cops. Add in another couple to fill ...

Re: Completed the Class today
Glad to hear it went well. The number of stoppages people have amazed me during the classes I took personally or observed. After teaching some myself, it ceased to amaze me. A high percentage of students fall into one of two categories: -they bring a new gun that's never been shot and never been cle...

Re: Test Driving a S&W Airweight
It's amazing just how much difference the weight of a pistol can have on felt recoil. I've got a 327PD. Think service sized version of an air weight. Scadmium frame. Titanium cylinder. Amazingly light for a full size 8 shot .357. Recoil with .38's is more than my 9mm blocks. Recoil with .357's is on...

Re: Legal to Open Carry While Hunting?
Can you open carry on public land?
I know you can open carry on your own property, or on others property with permission. But I don't know an exemption for hunting.
It makes sense that there would be. But where is it in the law?

Re: Minimum Caliber Question
There is no caliber restriction as far as what you can carry under your CHL. There IS a minimum caliber as far as what you can use to qualify. In other words you can't take the test with a .22, but once you get your plastic you're legal to carry one. As far as minimum caliber you should carry, I ten...

Someone needs to remind him he's just a monkey who dances for our entertainment.
He can remember a few lines and make funny faces.
Reason 812 why I don't see Hollywood movies unless they're free.

Re: $250 for a brick of 22LR? Are you nuts?
Just try to remember them when (if) things ever calm down. I've got my list of people I won't ever do business with. They're free to charge whatever they like. I'm free to call them names and never shop there and send everyone I know somewhere else. It's like charging for the restroom based on how b...

Re: Outdoor Channel Blacklists Colorado Over Gun Control Law
From listening to Michael Banes podcasts, the Colorado laws were passed with such bad language that unintentionally running afoul of the new laws is a real concern. I'm no expert on the new laws, but he makes it sound like merely handing a standard capacity magazine or semi-auto rifle to your wife/s...

Re: Quick ammo question
If at all possible, bring a spare semi and spare revolver, also bring spare ammo. Most importantly, shoot what you are bringing before you show up. I was amazed at the number of people who failed the range portion one or two times because of equipment failures. I know I loaned out my revolver to one...

Re: Did I Screw Up?
That's what I was afraid of. I knew about the requirement to obtain initial certification, but not to renew. Unless there's some sort of end-around, I guess I'll have to decide if its worth getting my credentials again through the NRA or let my CHL instructors certification lapse as well. I can unde...

Did I Screw Up?
I let my NRA certification lapse because I really didn't want to be tied to their curriculum. I only teach small groups and prefer to cover what THEY want/need to cover. Also, I teach only rarely, mostly CHL or familiarization/safety classes to friends and family. So, now I'm coming up for renewal f...
