Re: Got my CHL today and 3 hours later my first incident!

As a new "junior" member of this forum, I'm a little shocked at the level of criticism a person receives for protecting his personal property on his land...whilst he and his family are home. While I agree we're not in the Wild West anymore, how far have we come when a thief has rights during the act of committing a crime? I'm no lawyer, but I really don't want anyone who is getting ready to commit a crime to think that their actions won't have serious, potentially deadly consequences.

For what it's worth, (judging from all the other post, it won't be worth much) if I were to turn to a life of crime, in Texas, I would expect to be staring down the muzzle of some sort of deadly weapon...and believe that the individual on the other end of it WILL put it to use. It's for that reason that the juice would never be worth the squeeze when it comes to stealing.

While I haven't taking the CHL class yet, I'm curious as to the epiphany I will have that would make me stand by and watch someone steal from me out of my own driveway.
