Re: Almost went to jail!!!

I'm confused.....for the passed few weeks, probably longer, I have read an awful lot of posts about proper wording, letter size and such about both .06 and .07 signs. IIRC, a lot of posters were saying walk on in if signage is not 100% correct. Now, everyone seems to be all riled up because someone...

Re: Open carry: negative ramifications

A licensee carrying a gun in his car is not carrying "under the authority" of his LTC, therefore 30.06 does not apply, as it does not apply to a non-licensee. The 30.06 statute is very specific that offense occurs while carrying "under the authority" of LTC. And even 30.05 has a...

Re: I now regret that OC passed

Whether you or I or anyone else actually wanted OC to pass or not, and whether we now regret it or not, it's here. It's a done deal now. So now, does it really achieve anything worthwhile for some to say "I told you so" and/or to bellyache about what's happening now? The reason to "b...

Re: I now regret that OC passed

I don't intend to OC but I fully support people demanding their Constitutional rights. If we aren't pushing gun rights forward, then we are losing. I don't mind changing where I shop and letting businesses know why. When anti-gunners are upset, then you can bet it's a good thing. Many people are ju...

Re: I now regret that OC passed

. . . I am sure OC has played a role in speeding up the inevitable. But IMHO, it was only a matter of time before 30.06 was going to inevitably be posted in more and more places as time goes on regardless of OC. Nope, it wasn't inevitable and in the 18 years since HB2909 passed creating TPC §30.06,...

Re: I now regret that OC passed

:iagree: Don't have buyer's remorse just yet. let people settle into it. the signs will slowly come down over the next year or two. When the crime statistics go down, when a LTC holder is a hero, when the OCT AR/AK wielders go away... things will get better. No that new Star Wars movie - that I regr...

Re: Speaking of signs.....

Well as far as I know, at least the parking lot part is not valid as they are directly prohibited from preventing you keeping a firearm in your locked vehicle by the "parking lot law." I know there are a very few exceptions, but in general that is the case. As for the rest, I feel your pai...

Re: Open carry: negative ramifications

Slowdave. The law changes on that jan 1st. Now carrying past a 30.06 /07 sign is a class C, 200 fine. Bumps up IF you refuse to leave. As to your last sentence, if it is posted 30.06 and the company reports you, you get the companies punishment as well as the law. You are not exempt from the law be...

Re: Open carry: negative ramifications

No, I didn't forget that. That's why I referenced it above (and in the original). But the parking lot law specifically applies to CHLs, not to those carrying under MPA authority. But if I'm reading correctly, the 30.06/30.07 specifically apply to CHL, not MPA. So, in the end, I think both are able t...

Re: Houston Lawyer Recommendations?

Yeah, my understanding is that they only get involved with a shooting or something of that sort. If you get involved in "weapons in places prohibited" or anything else like that, you're still on your own.

Re: Open carry: negative ramifications

...the announcement says they will continue to allow the possession of loaded firearms in vehicles...Previously, a violation of the policy could result in at worst, dismissal from the company. Now, it will result in up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine (Class A misdemeanor) If the policy explic...

Re: Open carry: negative ramifications

By my reading, if you post the property, it is posted 30.06. You can't post partial 30.06, and the sign has to be exactly word for word, nothing missing, nothing added. The sign says, in part, "a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (concealed handgun law), may not e...
