Oops, it is the time to clean up 3 pistols and 2 rifles. Hard and lovely work for the firearms comes with the fun of shooting said firearms.

If she comes out to Top Gun next Month with you, she can try my EMP 9mm.

Maybe get her going once a week or so to a nice indoor range where she can start at 3 yards. Remember, she does not need a CHL to utilize the MPA and go to the range herself.

Keep her at 3 until ALL of her shots are in the Bullseye. She will get it eventually. Tell her NOT to hold her breath.....but to exhale and then squeeze the trigger.

Then move to 5 yards and do the same thing. Finally out to 7 yards. Then further as appropriate, but anything past 10-15 yards may be very difficult for her with a 3" barrel. She would then probably be able to hit the target at 10-15 yards, but prolly not many Bullseye's.

But who knows.........there are a lot of good female shooters. With a little practice with the right pistol, she could turn out shooting better than you or me!

I would caution on the size thingy.....for carry......
I can see a small 9mm as a MINIMUM. I would not suggest a 380 or less. At some point the size of the bullet DOES matter and for me that point is the 9mm.
:iagree:
Thanks for the good advice. I will take that as a plan :tiphat:

You bet she wants to protect both our kids, Ryan and Yesmeena.

I need to get my wife more trainned with pistols. The few first shots were all misses at 8" target at 7-10 yrd from a PX4 SC. That bugger is tough to shoot with. It has only a 3" barrel. She mentioned that the PX4SC is the largest pistol she is willing to carry.

I thnik for her the new Beretta nano could be idle for her in 9mm. I will be keeping my PX4SC :biggrinjester:

Novaman,
MY wife accepted the idea of geting her CHL. Progress, I guess. I am an official "progressive" CHL promoter :woohoo :woohoo

Recoil from the 45-70 didn't look that bad at all, possibly the rest made a big difference?

Looks like Dad needs to work on that shooting left! :biggrinjester:

Looks like all had a great time and go ahead and get her CHL, needed or not for range, never miss an opportunity like that.....you need to get her carrying! :thumbs2:

Thanks for posting! :tiphat:
The Limbsaver is worth each cent of that $30 I paid. I have it on both rifles, Tikka T3 30-06 and HR BC 45-70. Both 30.06 and 45-70 have comparable kick. Without the limbsaver my shoulder was bruised after some 20 rds. With the pad, I once shot some 60 rd of 30-06 with no ill effects.

I am due to renew my CHL by April 2013. She most likely will attend the same class and get her CHL too. :woohoo

Re: 3/25/12 @ Elm Fork great shooting day (Photos/Videos)

Yeah, my wife she likes a lot shooting .22s that she wants to go to the range by herself, meet with her female friend and shoot at the range. She found the recoil of 9mm PX4SC a bit more than .22 that at first she was missing paper target.

She asked, can you get me a CHL so I can go to the range with my friend? I was as like   :woohoo no need for CHL to go to the range or to keep your pistol in the car.

3/25/12 @ Elm Fork great shooting day (Photos/Videos)

Mommy, Yesmeena and myself had a great time at ELM fork shooting range. We got a semi-private pistol bay and 2 RO with one a good Gun instructor. He did great job coaching my wife in her shootings especially with SIG 522.

Range report with photos and videos is coming soon.

As a teaser, my wife, bore-sighted and zeroed her scoped H&R Buffalo-Classic in 45-70 in just 10 rds! She was placing hole-over-hole at 25 yrds. with last 2rd at Bullseye! Limb saver was great saver from induced pain and shoulder bruising.

Yesmeena did great too, with Sig 522 rifle she had .5" group at 7 yrds with some 50 rds made hole as big as a quarter.

The range is clean and I mean it. RO are super shooter friendly and will coach new shooter for free. They do volunteer for coaching. you do not have to ask. Maybe we had great RO since they were the older guys.

As for the range fees, they could be expensive if you need to use many bays, since to shoot paper pistol targets at the pistol bays it $16, add $10 to shoot pistol/rifle. Add $10 to shoot steel target. Reactive steel targets are charged $20 per 20 min. There is surcharge for multiple guns too for over 3. Plus you have to pay tax as the fees do not include the tax.

We paid $60 for 3 shooters. Momy shot both at the pistol bay and the new 50 yrds range. There is also the old 100 yrd range.

The new 50 yrds range is excellent. It just needs more nets between shooters to stop flying brass from messing your hair.

For official range photos, see here: http://www.elmfork.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Dady was :anamatedbanana :anamatedbanana

NB: we were told that our target were at 7 yrds and then 15 yrd shooting the SIG 522. I guess the distance is a bit more than that, maybe 15yrd and 25yrs
