Re: Open carry by (possible) LEO?

I see it almost daily here in Johnson county. My Sheriff is a western wear only guy 90% of the time. We have City and County Detectives and LEO's that OC some with and with out Visible badges. The Rangers are always OC ing but if you live in TX long enough you KNOW a TX Ranger when you see one. :pa...

Re: Campus Carry Question

You're right, this bill wouldn't affect most students. But, there's quite a few staff/faculty that would be allowed to carry.

Re: Motorcycle carry

I Highly recommend getting some kind of a motorcycle jacket. Not only does it not ride up while riding to reveal whatever you might be concealing, but it also prevents road rash in the event of a unexpected dismount. I carry IWB at 3-4 o'clock. For me transfering from the tank bag to my person was a...

I seriously thought about talking with my former employer (Private Higher Ed institute) about allowing me to carry on campus. I went through a couple drafts of a letter, but never actually turned it in. I hope Perry backs up his statements by actually trying to get something through here in TX. Then...

I carried last year. Walked up and handed my CHL to the guy with the wand before he started. He looked at it 3x then called for DPD. I waited about 10min, they wrote down my info and told me to have a nice day. That was all. Brother figured out what was going on, but the friend with us had no clue. ...

Guys, thank you very much for your input and opinion.

If y'all would like to discuss the merits of open carry on a motorcycle, please go start another thread. I would be interested in reading it, but I would prefer that it stay out of this thread.

Thanks again y'all!

Guys, I didn't mean to start an argument here. Just looking for some info. Y'all have both provided info that I will back up with my own research. I had gone through and read the PDO blurbs about each of the states that I plan to visit and so far you guys are both in a position that could be taken f...

Frankie, thanks for the input. I am in no sense of the word a lawyer, and I feel you are correct in your understanding. I don't drink and don't ride fast so I'll do my best to avoid attracting LE attention in general. I'll be sure and drop a link here of the trip report when I get it done. Thanks fo...

I'm going to avoid IL. The problem arises in that I want to go through Ohio and West Virginia. Neither of those states honor the TX CHL. WV allows unlicensed open carry. OH requires the gun to be out of reach and/or disassembled. I'm sourcing my info from PDO. On the bike open carry is going to be a...

Motorcycle trip to Eastern states, what about the pistol?

Here in a couple weeks, I'll be heading to Michigan on my motorcycle, TX has reciprocity with Michigan so no worries there. The most obvious route to Michigan takes me through Illinois which of course can be easily avoided by going through TN and KY into IN. The question I have arrises with my plans...

if I saw a chance to disarm the guy, I would take it.
If he wouldn't quit being a problem, I'd shoot him.

Good for the kid on stopping the BG. Now, somebody teach him how to shoot so the BG doesn't just have injuries to the face and abdomen ;-)
