Izmash is the original as well as (from what I have ascertained) the current producer of current production AKs (Ak-101,103,107...I don't know what they are on now haha) for the Russian Military. So for what it is worth, this seems to be as close to a real deal Russian as there is currently on the market. That being said, I still think that kits builds are going to be the best route if you want a well built AK. All Sagias coming into the US need to be heavily modified to become like the one you see so my concern would be fit and finish issues in that conversion process (couldn't be worse than what Century Arms puts out though). I don't know what your Kimber is worth, but knowing that they command a premium price I feel confident in saying that I think you would be getting the short end of the stick on that deal, but by a small margin. The Saiga's are plentiful and are not held in the high regard of some other AKs. Rifle + modifications = $500-650 depending on who is doing it. If it were a VEPR, I would have told him to give it to me now before he changed his mind!!
Thanks for the info. I had a feeling I was on the short end and would have required some cash also. I think I'll just start researching an AR.
Thanks for eveyones input!
