Santa Claus arrived this afternoon. I know it was him, because the other mythical object - my CHL - also arrived. Woo-hoo! Plastic in hand!!!
Wally world, here I come.

Re: February Applications
Either A) our complaining is paying off, B) the extra staff is really kicking into high gear, or C) pigs have learned to fly [personal choice] because it seems a bunch of us February folks are getting ours - finally. I got the "application complete" note on Monday (or was it Sunday that I checked???) via the DPS website. Lost track of the days...gave up counting, actually.

Re: February Applications
BriN, if that's your timeline - without complications - I guess I'm stuck for another month or more since I had a fingerprint re-do in the middle of my saga.
It's been a week, now, since I mailed my letters. On Monday I'm going to follow-up with some phone calls and see what my Rep and Senator have to say.

I just checked my application ("Processing") and did note the lock up by the address bar. That does make me feel a little better.usa1 wrote:everytime ....i dont recall seeing the little lock symbol either .quoheleth wrote:

Re: February Applications
Still here, too.How many February applicants are still waiting? The board seems to be getting very quiet, and lonely.
140 days from start of process (paperwork rec'd) in Austin
91 days from re-start (2nd prints rec'd)
One week since mailing letters to State Rep and Senator
Just checked DPS website...still "Processing Application"
As an aside, does anyone else get nervous constantly plugging in a SSN into a website?
Q
edit: can't add....

Re: February Applications
Having checked the DPS website for the millionth time in the past two weeks, I spent a few minutes on hold this morning to get the scoop. The gentleman I spoke with was most helpful, friendly and curteous.
Good news is my 2nd round of fingerprints went through with no problems.
Bad news is DPS is still waiting on Harris County to do it's thing.
Good news is that the end is in sight.
Bad news is that the end is about another month, per the gentleman's best guess.
Anyone know who to contact in Harris County about cranking up the speed on the application processor a few notches? Local County Commissioner? Justice of the Peace? Dog Catcher?
Thanks,

Re: February Applications
I guess I don't have much room to complain, given that others from December and January are still waiting. But I will anyway!
What's frustrating me, specifically, is that within 30 working days (M-F) I had a fingerprint rejection letter from DPS. I got reprinted and sent the packet in a couple days later.
I'm now almost 9 weeks since that was re-sent. I'm hoping no news is good news. I think I might call later this week (next Monday will be a full 4 months since initial paperwork was submitted) just to touch base. I'll be in Austin for a while after the 15th; if there are any problems, I might be able to take care of it face-to-face, or drop off what is needed (i.e., fingerprints).
Oh, yeah...Harris County resident.
Thanks for listening to me vent...

Re: February Applications
Talked with a member at church last night. She put her paperwork in to DPS "somewhere around" December 16 and she's had her plastic already since the end of February. They are Harris County, too. This was without phone calls, etc. (no disrespect to those who have made calls...just telling her story), so that's <90 days total - and that included things like Christmas, New Year's, MLK, Columbus Day, etc.
So, perhaps there is hope that the log-jam has broken up just a bit.

Re: February Applications
Took my CHL class today in Baytown (east Harris County). Instructor said he's only recently (last couple weeks) heard of Harris county turn-arounds of 3 months, down from the ***5 months*** many were experiencing.
That said, his wife is up to month 8 for her CHL renewal to be sent to her. She is something like 3 months past its expiration date, so irony of ironies, she can teach the class but can't carry except in her car.
Question: In the CHL handbook, there were 4 or 5 regional DPS offices. Can paperwork be dropped off at any of those listed locations (one was on West Road in Houston - not too far away, relatively speaking) or is it better to spend the $1 or so and "signature receipt requested" mail it to Austin?
Thanks,
