Re: How do you feel about waiting now?
So pointing to an act that is legal but not done, then claiming the experience in those 44 states is somehow indicative of what the public reaction will be in Texas is not only illogical, it ignores what happened in Texas from May, 1995 until Sept. 1, 1997. As for what you refer to as happening bet...

Re: How do you feel about waiting now?
I too travel all over the country and have been for 35 years. My experience mirrors yours; although technically legal in 44 (so to be 43) states, it just isn't done. It a rarity to see someone openly carrying, so claiming that 44 states allow OC is disingenuous and grossly misleading. It is NOT mis...

Re: May 2010 Applications
Update: As of 06/30/10 DPS online updated to shows wife's CHL as "mailed". To recap the timeline for her renewal it goes like this: 05/06/10 - Complete packed mailed. 05/08/10 (Day 1) - USPS Confirmed Delivery. 05/14/10 (Day 7) - DPS online showed all items "received". - Prints &...

Re: How do you feel about waiting now?
So what you are saying is, you want to be able to wear your weapon in public, unconcealed. Like in Arizona? Can I ask you a question? Why? Hey, don't get me wrong. I am all for the right to keep and bear arms. I have been carrying concealed for 8 years. But, why do you want to strut around town wit...

Re: May 2010 Applications
Update on My Wife's renewal: After my last conversation with the DPS, I contacted Alice Tripp with the TSRA and asked for her help as well. Mrs. Tripp jumped right on the problem, contacting the DPS and urging them to resolve the issue. She advised that I would likely hear directly from the DPS. The...

Re: May 2010 Applications
OK, UPDATE: Wife called DPS this morning and was told "they were waiting on one more outside check to be returned". Was told that "it has just barely been 45 days and should not be much longer". When she asked why several other people who were new applicants had all received thei...

Re: May 2010 Applications
DocNTexas, sorry to hear it. I don't understand; the code states the renewal WILL be issued after 45 days. You might also contact Alice Tripp, Legislative Director, TSRA you can get her email at https://www.tsra.com/index.php?option=com_contact&view=category&catid=47&Itemid=117" on...

Re: May 2010 Applications
My wife has been waiting for over 45 days for her renewal application to be processed. Mailed her completed packet on 05/06/10. USPS confirmed delivery on 05/08/10. DPS online showed all received with prints pending 05/14/10. DPS online showed prints complete 05/24/10. DPS online has shown packet co...

Re: DPS Processing Times
There is a misconception on the time the DPS has to issue a CHL to a new applicant. Most hold that the DPS has 60 days from the receipt of ones application material to issue or deny the license but they actually have 90 days on a new application and 180 days if they notify the applicant that they c...

Re: "Intruder drill" leaves teachers shaken
WOW! I see lots of room for legal liability for such a stunt. I will be surprised if the school district is not sued by some teacher claiming post traumatic stress or at least for their cleaning bill. Secondly, what would have happened if one of the teachers had suffered a heart attack or such? Or i...

Re: DPS Processing Times
My online status changed today to indicate my renewal was approved and license issued. It took 59 days from the date the DPS received my renewal material (according to the USPS, not the DPS website) to the online status change showing license issued.
