If someone wants to buy an off the shelf, serialized stripped lower receiver and assemble it into a working firearm, they can legally sell that rifle as long as they are within all other applicable federal & state laws of course.
That would make since. As with most things the media never gets the story or facts straight. Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Reported: Active shooter in Odessa, TX

I heard tonight on Fox 4 Dallas that the house they are searching is a man who bought parts, assembled, the rifle, and sold which is illegal. I have seen many adds of people buying different parts and assembling a Heinz 57 AR 15 and decided to sale it. Is that illegal? Sure would like someone to post the law.

Maybe not.He would have had to KNOWINGLY sell to a felon.
yes, and this is exactly why the private sale loophole needs to be closed. it's common sense, we cant have mentally deranged or autistic or retardeds out there buying assault rifles and shooting up the place!
Oh, so you want the government telling us what we can and can't do with our private property? What about when you want to sell a TV set to someone, and the government decides you can't do that because that TV might be unsafe, and needs to go through a repair shop first? Or you want to sell a used car to a family member, but the government decides that you can't, it needs to be sold ONLY to a dealership. And so on and so forth because once they tell you what you can and can't do with one type of personal property, then they just expand that when they feel like expanding it. A liberty surrendered is not easily regained.
Back grounds should be done for that car sale. They may be drinkers and drivers. :rules: We have too much Government intrusions now.

Re: Reported: Active shooter in Odessa, TX

One of the new organizations here in DFW showed a video of how the shooters life ended. He literally plowed into police vehicles in the back of the theatre. I don’t know if he had been shot so the vehicle was out of control or if he intentionally crashed into the vehicles and then was shot. It was amazing video.

Edit: I tried to find the video from the news and could not, but this is the video. This one is a little harder to see. It appears from this one that shots were fired after the crash.

I heard Julian Castro on CNN saying that we should ban all “weapons of war.” Not a surprise.

Re: Reported: Active shooter in Odessa, TX

FOX News says a Trooper was shot and there are 5 dead. 20 plus victims, but not all were shot. It appears they will give an official news conference soon.

Re: Reported: Active shooter in Odessa, TX

Multiple people have been shot in West Texas after at least one suspect hijacked a U.S. mail carrier truck and started to fire indiscriminately, Odessa police say.

Midland police said they believe there are two shooters in two separate vehicles.

Odessa police said one person "hijacked" a U.S. Postal Service truck, while Midland police said they were searching for a second vehicle -- a small gold or white Toyota truck.

Both police departments encouraged drivers to get off the roads and stay indoors.
