I carry a really sharp knife all of the time.
If it was me, one agaisnt four, I doubt I would pull a knife that the four could take away from me and carve my carcass.
I stand by my post.
I would not have exited my vehicle if I saw four bangers exit a vehicle that just rear-ended me. I drive a Ford F250 Superduty diesel. Loaded down with my tools etc it goes almost 7000 lbs.
I use my truck as a weapon. I doubt a rice burning banger mobile and four bangers would handle the truck.
Herb, I have thought about these scenarios and in this one pulling a knife was not the answer. If it was for you great. Go for it. IMHO the knife suggestion was not the right one.
Anygunanywhere but probably not a knife.
No one suggested "pulling a knife" nor certainly not letting them take it from you -- but as you and I both have it (I have two) they would end up with meeting the knives before I let the four gang bang me or my family.
Although I would definitely be in fear of my life and great bodily harm, two knives (along with a wee bit of skill with them) and the pepper spray would likely make it an interesting fight, as long as they don't have firearms, if they insisted.
Knife techniques are worth some study. It is actually pretty difficult to even grab or punch a person who knows how to HOLD a knife.
Agreed!
Any type of weapon (vs. fists/feet) might allow you to maintain distance or retreat to a safer position to summons help.
I have a little bit of knife training...and I can honestly say... I would be loathe to try to disarm/attack someone (even an unskilled person) who was waving an edged weapon and showing any amount of determination.
Of course, common sense tells us not to deploy/reveal the weapon until absolutely necessary, for a variety of reasons.
Depending upon where I plan to go in a day...I may or may not have my 1911 on my person (I don't carry 24/7). But....I ALWAYS have my knife (thanks El Gato).
