No need for embarrassment. I was the first to say it.

Time constraints, not procrastination was the problem for me. The result however, was the same. "Naked" for almost two months.

The shame of it all!

Indeed, I recommend : Get 'er done early!

Mine went a full 20 days past the alloted (45). Maybe my passport photos had me looking a little "shady", who knows. Oh well, I've got it now.

Just got my renewal the other day. 68 days!

I never inquired about the status, just let them do their thing.

No doubt, the process is in need of help...from the local level right up through the federal. I'm sure the folks in Austin get delayed waiting on information from other agencies. It can't be a lot of fun responding to questions about things that are out of your control.

I wish the system were more expedient, but it isn't.

Finally,

After 64 calender days (renewal). Site says application completed.

Now, if the USPS doesn't lose it, I'll be properly "dressed" again in 4-5 days!

Oh Man! Don't even say that.

They've had my renewal since the first week of December. In just the last few days has the site changed to "processing application". If they mess around and take another 30 days (plus snail mail time), I'll go well over 70 days.

Maybe its time for me to move back to Austin, seems they need some help!

Arrrrrrrrrrrghhhh!

Today makes just about 5 weeks since they received my renewal. I checked on-line again... and finally got an "application being processed" message.

So, perhaps things will progress smoothly from here on out...and I'll receive it soon. Been without pistol since Dec. 23rd (my fault for not renewing earlier), so I'm not complaining. I'M NOT, I'M NOT, I"M NOT..............

bauerdj wrote: If not received within 5 business days after the website indicates it has been issued I would be concerned it has gotten lost in the mail.
Don't bother initiating a "tracer" on it until 45 days have passed (if sent 1st class mail). I have had 3 letters lost by the USPS in the last year. Along with the form you are issued to fill out, you get a "form letter" explaining that over 8 MILLION articles of mail are damaged or lost every year, and about 10-15 percent of those are eventually found and delivered. I read that to mean: "don't hold your breath".

So.......pray that it wasn't "lost".

Good luck,

flint
