At one time (pre-1985) RR 2222 was a wonderfully un-congested road (2 lanes each way) winding road through the hill country out to 620.
There was very little housing at that time, only the occasional DPS or Sheriffs Dept patrol. It was a well known (and liked) road for sports car enthusiasts...but LEO (at that time) would pretty much ignore folks unless you were doing something completely stupid.
When I was in college (back in the dark ages), I had a '69 Jaguar XKE roadster. I drove many an enjoyable mile on "2222". From 1968 to 1985 Austin was a great place to live and grow up, but you couldn't drag me back there now.
