When we were looking for a pistol for my Daughter, she chose a Para LDA/Carry 9 since she was already familiar with the 1911 platform but liked the double action trigger. Lots of safety features, 8 + 1 capacity.

No longer in production, but good used pistols available.

Whatever, you decide, best to find the model you are interested in and put it 'in hand' before purchasing, some pistols just feel better than others and you'll want to be certain she can operate all the features.
