Re: November '08 Applications
wow...that's nuts! I think I'd give it another week or so and then place the call to my rep's office. I don't think they are legit in "restarting" the 60 day count down.

Re: November '08 Applications
I'm just saying.....man...all the hype....you open the box...there it is...and it's just the plastic fitted into a piece of cardstock. I'm VERY, VERY glad the plastic is finally here.... it just seemed almost anti-climatic.Morgan wrote:Would you rather have the plastic and no confetti, or confetti and no plastic? LOL I mean if you want confetti THAT bad you can shred the card....
good thing we've got all the smilies to celebrate with or I'm not sure what we'd do then

Re: November '08 Applications
of course...I'm not real sure what it was I was expecting....maybe some confetti to burst out of the envelope....or maybe a letter from Austin explaining to me that they appreciated my patience and money and congrats for joining the ever growing group of armed citizens...or maybe just a copy of the handgun law's and statutes with a note that said "don't screw this up" ....or even just a handwritten sticky note that said, "dude...you got your plastic...now, quit dinging our website all the time....give it a break"....but no....just the piece of plastic. Don't get me wrong...I'm extremely excited and happy to finally have it in hand....but I guess with all the buildup and hype I was at least wanting more in the envelope

Re: November '08 Applications
glad to hear you guys had a great time. and nice to hear you already got the plastic...wow...three day turnaround ain't bad. I didn't want to get too hopeful on when the plastic would actually get here...but between you, Morgan and some others...seems like once you get the complete status it's just a matter of days.TexasRedRock wrote:Well I just made it back from the big city capital, sure had a great time at Lake Travis. I took Ranch Road 2222 into RR 620 to get to the Villia, sure were alot of nice houses. Wife and I had a good time, our Battalion Chaplin is a real nice guy, he came to the BN while I was deployed. He had one of his preacher buddies with him, a retired SF / Army Ranger Col that is now a preacher. We had alot of nice food and it was just real nice to get away with the wife. I have my plastic and I will be hanging around to support the others.

well good luck with that...mine haven't. I sure thought Tennessee and Carolina would have come out the winners today...in fact told several they would.Morgan wrote:I hope my NFL predictions are as accurate the rest of the season! :)

TexasRedRock wrote:Well my license is active and certificate was issued, but I dont have my plastic, I bet it comes to the house today. However the Army is doing something very, very nice for me and my wife. We are leaving in a little bit to go to Vintage Villas down on Lake Travis. The website shows it is a real nice place. The Battalion Chaplin is hosting a 2 day marriage enrichment program. All we had to pay for was the fuel to drive down there, the Army picks up the tab for meals and lodging. So my license will get here, and I will be gone, so I maybe able to do my Wally Walk on Sunday when I get back. I live in an ok area, but roomate has been briefed to get mail and put DPS / RLC mail in the fire safe. You all have a great weekend and I will see you on Sunday.
that's awesome...enjoy the weekend...and of course the wife will be wondering why you are so excited to get home seriously though...that is very cool that the army is going that for you...I hope you both enjoy the weekend very much!! and of course we expect the full wally world update when you return!

Re: November '08 Applications
that's my worry entirely....I'll just close it and be like...."wait a minute"...the website must be broke...it looked different today...I better log back in and check that again...gomowdude wrote:fisher of man - I totally check the DPS website so much that I think it will ever only say one thing. In fact, I have this habit of closing the web page so fast out of frustration that I bet the day it changes, I will just zip through my routine so fast that I wont even notice the change! Probably have to check it a few times just to be sure it really says something different!! I wish the DPS would upgrade the website to UPS tracking info, maybe telling you whose desk its on, what paperwork they are checking on, etc. I guess thats asking too much.
and of course...then there will be the 3 or 4 more login's to make sure it's not just some kind of glitch....
ahh...well I await that login when it's actually there...
on the tracking stuff...yeah...probably WAY TOO MUCH to ask...I mean that'd probably triple the time it takes!
I'm off to ding the site again

I can't imagine the pure agony some of the guys that submitted their apps in the middle of the summer and are just now getting their plastic now must have gone thru!Morgan wrote:I honestly don't know how the folks who went 90, 100, 125, 150 and more days handled it. another couple of "dings" on the ol counter for me today with no new news....still processing.
you ever check it so much that you wonder if your just seeing one thing (because that's all you've ever seen it say) when it may actually say something different? hmmmm...maybe need to get someone else to check it for me have a good one guys...and hold out hope for tomorrow!

Re: November '08 Applications
ok....so .... after further review....you can put the hit counter in the "bad idea stack"....
you're absolutely right...they probably have like a "CHL Most Anxious Board"...you know...kinda like the FBI 10 most wanted....they probably find all kinds of ways to prolong the top 10 just so for their own humorknightx wrote:wouldn't that be a hoot and a half...

understand completely been there and done that.....hey wait...even got that tshirtknightx wrote:i hope they DON'T have a hit counter.....
they might get a little concerend if you look TOO anxious LOL
(besides, i know when people start pressing me for immediate results here at my job, i start to "misplace" paperwork)

Re: November '08 Applications
as soon as I got my Pin by email I started checking mine. went to "processing application" on 12/3. been "stuck" there ever since. like I said in my last post...I know many have waited much, much longer than i have....but I sure am getting anxious! I'm at the checking everytime I get on the net phase now.... maybe there's some kind of hit counter on the DPS website to see who checks theirs the most and they get theirs sooner ....well...I better go ding my app againMorgan wrote:The period of time between when you know the state got yours and when you went to "processing" (assuming you checked every day and know with a day that it was started) is a little longer than I'd have guessed... but still, within what they claim SHOULD be "normal" I'd still guess you'll have it this month, if you're delay-free.
