Driving to Florida for Xmas -- safest route?
I'll be driving with my family to Florida for the Christmas and New Years holidays and was wondering: 1. Should I have any concerns about passing through the New Orleans area, or would I be better off going through Jackson MS. I.e. Option A: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=4732...

I fly into and out of Ohare and Midway regularly. I travel with my carry pistol with the intent of rearming myself in the airport bathroom or parking lot ( depending on local law ) when I reach either Texas or a state that has reciprocity. You can travel into Chicago and transit to your destination...

Illinois in general and Chicago in particular have some arcane and annoying firearms laws. I would highly recommend you do your homework prior to flying to Chicago with firearms, especially pistols. The same for New York City. If you are in possession of your luggage then you are in possession of y...

Re: Checking a firearm while flying
If you are flying out-of-state, make sure you know the firearms laws where you are going. M You bet. You won't have any problems on the way out, but you can easily get busted on the way back when you declare the gun(s) in some repressive jurisdiction where, for the time being, (meaning until SCOTUS...

Re: Does That Really Work???
I'd be constantly checking to see if it was still there. I can't keep my shirt tail from riding up my back even when I have suspenders on! I'd end up leaving my weapon in someone's seat cushions for sure... But maybe it works for you slim guys. I'm hardly slim, and never have a problem with i...

Re: I have a new carry gun/method!!!!!
I have been carrying my PT145 in a fobus paddle holster. However, I recently picked up a Smith 686 with a 2.5 inch barrel and have been considering carrying it. Well, I ran into a good deal on a Milt Sparks IWB called the #1 Heritage. Holy COW!!!!!! I never knew IWB could be this comfortable. Congr...

Allow concealed guns anywhere, governor says While in principle I'm in favor of this happening, I also expect it will result in a huge number of new 30.06 postings as awareness of CHL holders increases due to such a bill. Maybe it will only be a short-lived inconvenience, with most of them coming d...

I think part of the problem with the shooting yesterday was that the SP101 was a rental and I had no idea about how well it has been maintained or cleaned. I do know that the extractor rod required quite a push to even get the shells out far enough for me to pull them out by hand. Sounds like it wa...

Here's a couple of photos of my pistol safe as mounted under my front seat. Please excuse the trash... I had no idea it was that messy in there. Is that a pushbutton combination box? One of those types with 4 buttons, one for each finger? Yessir. Here's the picture from the manufacturer's we...
