Re: Bank Robbery @ Kroger store

Doesn't much matter......... People who are unlicensed and carrying aren't going to stop and go back out to their car just because they read a sign...

Re: Bank Robbery @ Kroger store

And on the other side of the coin, just because a person WOULD intervene if they felt a criminal in a public place needed to be stopped, even though they were not directly involved in the incident, does not mean that they got their CHL "just to shoot criminals" and doesn't necessarily have a vigilante attitude.

Just like a person isn't a coward because they wouldn't intervene, a person wasn't "looking to shoot someone" just because they did. Some people tend toward the side of self preservation. Some tend toward the side of protecting their fellow man. It's not a black and white issue. It's not an either/or situation. There's a blurry continuum between the two. Assuming someone's stance is totally 100% that which is presented in a 5 sentence internet post is bad logic.

Every grocery store bank I've ever seen is at the very front of the store, so the only way that is plausible is if you were literally at the cash register at the moment of the robbery, or the bank robber was so oblivious that he didn't notice the guy duck-walking up behind him between the checkout lanes and turn around to shoot at you and everybody standing near you, and that nobody else in line screamed or otherwise drew attention to you when you started to draw on the guy.
Yup, the banks I've seen are at the front of the store in my experience too. Usually a very short walk from the check out lines. Sometimes an acute angle from the pharmacy or beer/wine.

If I was in the dairy section of my grocery store, I wouldn't know what was going on, even. But if I was in line at over 1/2 of the checkouts and something happened at the bank area, I WOULD INDEED have a very good chance at a clear shot.

I'm not saying I'd take it. I'm not saying it's a good idea. I'm just saying that I'd have the shot.

You just keep proving my point, that our opinions are generally based on our experiences, and sometimes those are based on what we've seen as examples, and our own anecdotal experiences aren't necessarily the reality we might face.

I live like three blocks from this Kroger, am very familiar with the layout, and I still say that the people who have a first reaction of starting a gunfight in the middle of a busy grocery store are nuts. Imagine any grocery store layout. How exactly are you going to line up a shot that doesn't put shoppers or employees in the line of fire? The guy robbing the bank shot at the floor and still managed to hit somebody.

You are also running a huge risk pulling out a gun during a bank robbery and shooting towards the bank that someone is going to think you are an accomplice, drawing attention to you and either making you a huge target or getting shot yourself.

Lay low, call the cops, and stay out of the way. If the guy was randomly putting bullets in shoppers, that would be a different story.
Now you're projecting your experience with a specific store and a specific incident. Thanks for proving my point. The question to which we are responding isn't "what would you do at 1:20 p.m. at this specific store."

Re: Bank Robbery @ Kroger store

What Byron said. I think one huge variable is that when given this scenario, each one of us visualizes ourselves in line at our own local store, which has a different layout to the bank area than each other. Sure there are similarities but each location provides a different tactical picture in our hypothetical model and that creates a greater variation in our specific answers.

So yeah... it depends.
