Finally... the plastic was in the mail yesterday when I got home from work!
That puts my wait at just about exactly 90 days from when they received my app or 93 days mail to mail.
Don't matter no more... 'cause I'm now a member of the club!
First thing I did was leash up the 3 pack of mutts and go for a long walk through the neighborhood. Man, I don't know how many times I yanked on my shirt tail to make sure I wasn't showing. The feeling of complete comfort will come with time and experience I guess.
Tonight we go out to celebrate at Cafe Adobe (I certainly hope they aren't posted!)... my first real public exposure... and I'm really looking forward to it! (Went out at lunch today and bought two new Hawaiian shirts. Ha!)
Anyone still waiting from the November group?

Re: November '08 Applications
I've had good luck emailing DPS and asking the status of my application (you need to provide your full name and drivers license #).Derekhie wrote:Well, I'm not sure what too do. Do I write to my Senator or someone of influence or not? I'm not sure if I really have the right too. Technically, DPS can start the process over again if there was any problem with what was submitted to them.
Have you done that recently? chl@txdps.state.tx.us

Re: November '08 Applications
Wow! Just got a call from Melinda at DPS (very nice lady) and she said that all they were waiting on was Harris County's BGC to be completed... and she said that she had requested that they expedite mine (see why I like her? )kirock7 wrote:Nope... I'm still waiting (impatiently)Broncrider wrote: Am I the last one left in the November section?

Yes, a good lesson for newbies and for when I renew (if I ever get my plastic!)Wahed wrote:1) Should have printed out those documents and made copies in case the DPS lost your stuff.
2) The DPS can check your application status with your Social Security number. Then see if they will give you your application number.
BTW I've had more contact with my rep and his office is doing what they can to facilitate matters.
I'm going on 78 days and counting with DPS saying they are waiting on BG checks (unfortunately I live in Ft. Bend, but work in Harris County... so two BGC's. Ugh!)

Re: November '08 Applications
Question: I contacted my Representative last Friday and low and behold his office contacted me today and they want to help... but they are asking for my application number to help find my paperwork. I applied online... I don't remember an application number (although I would imagine it was probably on the documents I sent back to Austin)
Does anyone know of a quick and easy way to find an app number online? I guess writing/calling DPS is in order again.
Disclaimer: I know, I know... I'm pushing it, but I feel like those of us that work or live or have lived in Harris County are being treated unfairly.

Re: November '08 Applications
Congrats, TexCalhoun! I'm looking forward to seeing some pics from your Wally Walk when ya do it... and I'm hoping I won't be too far behind ya.TexCalhoun wrote:Plain white envelope arrived today.
Beady eyes... check.
Double chin... check.
Legal to carry... check.
Loaded and chambered, ready to go.
They received my packet on 11/26 and I received my plastic on 1/24. That's 60 days (including the mailing time to get the plastic to me).
Given the fact that we had the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years holidays during the wait, that's not bad at all.
Thinking about taking the Wally Walk later this afternoon.

Re: November '08 Applications
Whoo Hoo! My status went from "Packet Mailed" to "Processing Application" today!
Hopefully this puppy will move right along and won't take too long... the only thing I worry about is the small cut I had on one finger that might invalidate my fingerprints and require a redo. (Oh, I certainly hope not! :-))

Re: November '08 Applications
I'm in line!
I took the class out at Hot Wells Sunday with Shane Lamar as instructor. Long day for sure... but well worth it and Shane did a great job in keeping us awake and interested the entire day (although it was so pretty outside!).
I took the DPS packet I had received last week by registering online the week before and mailed that puppy off yesterday!
Now to kick back, experiment with different holsters and maybe add another pistol to the collection while I wait.
