Years ago I was driving back to school in Brenham with a friend and her new 10 week old kitten. We were in my '74 VW bug and zipping along on 290, just outside of Hempstead when I was pulled over by a Trooper. When he said he pulled me over for speeding, I really was shocked ('74 VW bug, remember...) and he said I was doing 68 mph...I said 'REALLY?' Grinning the whole time....didn't know the car would go that fast. The vent windows usually slammed shut on me at about 60 mph and they were still open. All the while he is trying to get my information, friend's cat is crawling out of her lap into the back seat and through the driver side window. Trooper kept catching kitty and passing it back in the car. This went on about 4 times, he just kept saying 'here's your cat'. Finally he said he'd give me a warning about the speeding and did write me up for missing the inspection date. As he left, he muttered something about cats. Never did figure out what he said.
