I used to have plenty of letters to the editor printed in the SF paper (under psuedonym)

Writing letters to the editor made me realise just how ignorant people really are, and how a nice percentage of them will understand once some light has been shined on a subject they previously didn't think of.

A good example: A local paper had an article lambast a local cop for shooting a thug armed with a knife. The tone of the article was, "thug had a knife, cop had a gun, why did the cop shoot? it was unnecessary!"

I wrote a letter to the editor explaining Dennis Tueller. The author wrote an addendum to hos column a week later explaining the "new information" he received and apologized for his column. Granted, this was a local paper, not a large national one, but you have to start somewhere.
