I'm out of the fight as soon as:
1) me and mines are no longer in danger AND
2) LE is on site
If there is an active situation like Tyler, once LEO are on site, I'm prepared to be treated like a criminal (lie down, surrender my firearm, put on shiny bracelets) and let them sort it out. I wouldn't fight alongside the LEOs unless they were clearly being overwhelmed and they knew which side I was on. No need to take friendly fire for being mistaken as the BG.
I wish the courageous CHLer who intervened had a rifle and had used it from his apartment. From what I remember, he did get quality center mass shots but the BG was wearing a flak jacket. . . in the video it shows the LEO had to shoot the BG in the back of the head to stop him.
