Re: Border Violence
There are a number of reason folk are stocking up on firearms. ammo, reloading supplies. Ranging anywhere from they are fun to what your describing. The border violence is more accute down here in South Texas than say, Detroit. BUT it shud be a concern for all. If Mexico does collapse, the citizens ...

Re: Open carry legislation
I was at my local Verizon store several days ago and needed to grab my fone and my wallet. Had to pay for an upgrade. Had on coat on and when I finished grabbing my wallet the old timer next to me looked like he was gonna have a heart attack. He saw my pistol and really, if it wasn't such a serious ...

Primers
I tried some W231, 6gr., behind a 255-260gr cast buller in a 45 AR. Felt good and right on. However, concerned about the primers. The primer caved in around the firing pin dimple but didn't puncture. Little too hot?

Re: As the Years
Recit, LOL, now your making me think. Truth be told, I own other hunting rifles, Rem 70 BDL 270 win, Rem. 308 and a pre-64 Model 70 in 30--06. I have hunted with all of them and if I were living in the high country of Co or Ca., I would try out a 7mm or 300 win mag. Nothing wrong with them...

As the Years
go by, I have seen all sorts of rifles and calibers come and go. It seems they all work to some degree. However, for some reason, my Marlin 336 in 35 Rem. keeps plugging along. Still dropping them out to 100 yards. I reload the 200gr Cor-lock Rem. bullet in front of IMR 4064 and am happy. I'll pass ...

Re: HB 836 - Hunting feral hogs from helicopters
I know this post will probably offend the majority of "Texas" hunters. I'm not trying to offend anyone, I just find a bit of humor in what "Texans" call hunting. I am not a hunter and grew up with a vegetarian father so I obviously have a different perspective. No, I am not a ve...

Re: HB 836 - Hunting feral hogs from helicopters
Your right, there is quite a bit of injured animals left to die in the field. Ok, so let's pass legislation to so there can be more left to die. My second tour in Nam, I was a gunner on a gunship. It is unreal how hard it is to place a killing shot from a vibrating chopper. I can see groups of peopl...

Re: HB 836 - Hunting feral hogs from helicopters
At the risk of upsetting a bunch of folk, I am totally againt passing this bill. My problem lies with the shooters that make great lumberjacks. I can see a ton of hogs getting wounded and left to die. Not my idea of good hunting practices.

Re: Open carry legislation
I can only wish. Open carry is not for me, but I would like the opportunity and not have to be so concerned as to whether my shirt rides up over my weapon. Same here. I suspect I would open carry only on extremly rare occasions, but like a lot of us, I am always concerned about the pistol holster s...

AA #5
Just for poops and grins, I tried some 44 special with AA 5 the other day and find I prefer it over the W231. Never thought I would ever say that. Wanna say 6.8 grains behind the 246gr RN bullet. Gotta go to the range and chrono this round and check for accuracy but in the back yard, hits the ol stu...

Re: Chron Article - Weapons sold in Houston kill in Mexico
There is hundreds of millions of dollars spent in the U.S. every year to combat drugs. Ranging from drug education, to Law Enforcement, to Courts, to prisons. How successful is it? Not very. I recommend we take just one facet of that program and discontinue the rest. Keep drug education. Emphasize i...
