Re: Never going to QUAIL CREEK again!

WOW!!!! I just cannot imagine something like this happening ANYWHERE. I ahve been there twice with no issues. I agree on the "uncomfortableness" of having someone elses ejected rounds hit you. Just felt "weird". I kept apologizing when I shot

Although quail creek is "close" to me, there are just too many issues written down that would make me keep going there. May start going to bass pro. I just want to go somewhere that I can shoot a few rounds, but not unload 1000 rounds. Course, that may end when I decide to do the reloading thing.

Re: Never going to QUAIL CREEK again!

This is one of my concerns with bringing my son to the range with me. Some fool sweeps the area and the gun goes off type of thing. It is amazing how outright unthinking people can be with a firearm.

It just amazes me that someone can NOT have a clue on how to LOAD a gun. That just seems like common sen......wait a minute, nevermind.

But it brings up the point that everyone should have the right to own a gun, but then do you make it a rule that they have to do "X" before they get it. The framers didnt think that (course the framers would be rolling over their graves if they knew what people have done to the constitution, but that is a different gripe) there should be anything imposed like having to take a course, etc.

Re: Never going to QUAIL CREEK again!

I finall found this post again to comment on it. When I first started getting into guns a few months ago, I was looking for a place to shoot before my CHL class.

Although there were some bad things to say about Quail Creek, me and a buddy of mine went there. I have been there again since that 1st time and both visits were what I would expect for going to a gun range.

The guys there worked me through the process. I walked in announce I was new, assumed there would be some "hold harmless" waiver stuff that I would need to sign, that I would need to go in with my gun unloaded and open for a quick look and then I would be out shooting.

As far as gun ranges go, it is standard fare. I guess I dont know what to expect. My gun is a basic gun, no silver or glitter on it, so I am not expecting to be pampered or anything (I am function over form). Everyone there was professional, yet good humored. Everyone had a "security" mindset, so I was happy with that. It is what I would expect from a firing range......

Funny story, on my second outing that, a young lady (teens) and her grandpa(assumed) and some of his friends lined up next to me. I was sighting my gun, so taking me sweet time. Anyway, the girl attempts to fire her gun and nothing happens. She asks her grandpa what the deal was. I look over at the perfect time to see a bullet BACKWARDS in the chamber. Apparantly, she loaded the entire clip backwards (bullets backwards, but clip loaded correctly). All I know is that when that happened, I stepped one step back from her.....that and I could tell where she was firing due to the dirt clods popping up right in front of the target "rlol"
