Re: November '08 Applications
Dang, it took a week for them to mail out my licence but I finally have it. So it ended up being about 90 days from mailing the packet to receiving my license. Good luck to everyone else who's still waiting.

Well, I finally got the words I've been wating for. Application complete, Licensed issued. Only took about 72 days. I guess not too bad considering what other folks have waited.

Re: November '08 Applications
Well I finally decided to call on mine today as it's been about 70 days. Thye have all my BG info back from everywhere except Harris County, what a shock.
I lived in California for most of my life, inseveral places I might add and all of that info came in fine.
It's absolutely rediculous for it to take sooooo long to get a background check done. If I were being arrested for something I'll bet they'd have my BG in minutes.

Well I'm over 60 days. I guess it's time to start calling. It's rediculous that it takes this long. The DPS has got to be raking in cash @ $140 a pop. Hello, spend some of that money on more resources. You would think the extra revenue could translate into new jobs for folks.

Re: November '08 Applications
The times appear to be all over the map. Some are as little as 37 days while others are 180+. It does appear to be getting a little better. I mailed mine in a day later than you and I'm in Harris county, we'll have to see who gets it first.

Re: November '08 Applications
It looks like you and I took the class and mailed the packets on the same days. My pin came a day later than yours, now let see if our licenses come in at the same time. Are you in Harris county by chance?gomowdude wrote:well friends, for what its worth I signed up here but only after i had some update on my app process, so here it is. if you're like me you've been checking others updates in order to measure their progress against yours, so I am returning the favor.... hope I don't stay in the waiting room long!

Well finally got my pin today in the mail. Only took 3 weeks. At least it feels like the process is moving.

Took mine at Hot Wells with Donovan on Nov. 18th. Mailed out the packet on the 19th. check cleared on the 28th. so I guess they got it. Hope it doesn't take the 5 months everyone is saying.kirock7 wrote:I'm in line!
I took the class out at Hot Wells Sunday with Shane Lamar as instructor. Long day for sure... but well worth it and Shane did a great job in keeping us awake and interested the entire day (although it was so pretty outside!).
I took the DPS packet I had received last week by registering online the week before and mailed that puppy off yesterday!
Now to kick back, experiment with different holsters and maybe add another pistol to the collection while I wait.
CHL Class (passed): 11/23/08
DPS Packet mailed: 11/24/08
