To the OP, thank you for relating this experience. I love the opportunity to put myself in a situation and think about what I might do.
Other questions might be where I would be standing when I challenged the people harassing the woman? Am I backed up against my vehicle or the gas hose so I can't move if they attack me? Should I go ahead and stop fueling and put the gas hose up to get it out of the way as soon as something suspicious like that starts up? Have I glanced around to be sure there isn't someone behind me? Should I pull my phone out and take a picture of the other vehicle's license plate? (do I have time for that?)
Stuff I hope I would think about if I were put in that situation.

Re: Now this is the reason why I carry
As others have stated, the purpose of drawing was not to intimidate, but to be prepared to defend myself if they try to attack. From the description, they were already very close, too close to have hands occupied with drawing a gun as someone with a club is swinging at you. Yes, they might be intimidated and run off at the sight of a gun, but that is not the reason for drawing my gun.lildave40 wrote:MechAg94 wrote:If someone pulls out a weapon within a reasonable distance, do any of you think it would be good to go ahead and draw your own? This is my not professional but personal opinion and I can be wrong. If I am drawing my weapon it is only to use it not to intimidate.

If someone pulls out a weapon within a reasonable distance, do any of you think it would be good to go ahead and draw your own? Even if you just hold it at your side, having it out and ready would seem prudent and shorten reaction time if something more happens.
