I was freezing my butt off at Astro on Monday. A buddy in Bertram suggested it when I complained about no centerfire rifle FMJ allowed on most/all public outdoor ranges in the Austin area.

It turns out Astro also forbids FMJ centerfire rifle ammo. Doh.

Their place is a work in progress. "Continually improving" from what my friend said. Friendly staff, 3-sided berms, tho they use scrap wood behind the targets, between the back of the target stand and the dirt berm. I have never seen that before. Not too sure it's the safest thing? A lot of pistol bullets laying around in/on the scrap wood. Easy richochet.

They'll let you hang your own paper targets. Target stands are at fixed distances.

I'd prefer to drive down to Cedar Ridge in Bulverde if I plan on spending a whole day shooting. Brass-cased HP and SP aren't too cheap in 7.62x51 and 5.56...
