Re: Major advancements for Texas CHL holders
Yes. I thought we would end the Basic class at the range, and start the CHL class there, so we only have to go once. I am sure this will require some tweaking, but that's the thought for now.TexasGal wrote:Crossfire, when you do your AM handgun class, are you planning on doing the CHL qual at the end of that so it is out of the way before the CHL class?

Re: Major advancements for Texas CHL holders
We are considering starting the day with a Basic Handgun class.
If you need that, then come in the morning. If you don't, then come at 1:00 for CHL only.

The problem is - how do you know?poppo wrote:I would not want to take a class with an instructor that won't take the time to keep up with the laws/changes.
I don't know how many times renewal students have told us they learned more in their renewal class than they learned in their initial class from someone else. Now that there will only be an initial class, it is up to students to find that up-to-date instructor the first time around. Since most people, it seems, are shopping for price only....well, you get what you pay for.
We will do the best we can to cram as much good, and current, info as we can into 4-6 hours. I can't speak for others.

Re: Major advancements for Texas CHL holders
I am not real concerned about the loss of revenue from renewal students.
What I AM concerned about is making it through the summer. Students have cancelled classes right and left for May and June so they can wait for the shorter class in September. So, we might be taking the summer off in preparation for the September stampede.
I am also concerned that DPS will not be quick in responding to this change, and we will be scrambling to figure out how to manage the same class material in a shorter time, while still meeting DPS requirements.
