Re: September Applications

Finally!

It was waiting on my door step. I guess the driver didn't care if I wasn't there to sign for it. :cheers2:

Re: November '08 Applications

Just because you sent it in at the same time doesn't mean anything at all unfortunately. It just speaks more about the messed up process. My father in law sent his in the same day as my mother in law, my wife and myself. He got his 2.5 months ago, my wife's is processed and my mother in law and I ar...

Re: Try Calling....

One of my biggest issues is that there is no order....meaning people that apply after you, get the license before you. If there was order, I would not have called.

I also don't see how my background check could take that long to do. I never even received a speeding ticket....knocks on wood.

Re: Try Calling....

I live in Denton County, but I lived in Harris for 18 years and they were doing some background stuff done there I believe. Its pretty funny how it takes them 3 days to cash your check, but 4-6 months to issue the license. Disclaimer: I have not received my license, so I'm not 100 percent sure that ...

Try Calling....

Your state senator. I called my state senator's office last week, and complained about my wait (~4 months). They were very sympathetic and helped me very quickly. A lady from their office kept in contact with me through the process, and told me that she was getting the DPS to get my license on the f...

Re: Another Rookie....

Thanks for the info. I will keep my eyes peeled for the PIN and will also update the status as I move forward. Thanks for the warm welcome! Steven The "track the status" consists of it saying "processing application" up until you are about to get it...its not very det...

Funny Classroom Stories?

This is the god's honest truth, I am not making this up. My instructor handed us a map of the US with the reciprocal states in one color, nonreciprocal states in another and a few of the states with just white. Texas was colored like the Texas Flag with a star and everything. A lady in my class asks...

Re: New Guy

Which senator? Sounds like someone we should try to keep in office. Jane Nelson I called Florence Shapiro's office this morning (they split my county, and I thought she was my senator), and her office was very helpful too. A lady there was taking down my info, and then redirected me when she saw my...

Re: New Guy

So how did the conversation go? "Hey senator, hook my up w/ my chl faster." "Sure thing, buddy!" I didn't know you could do that. Welcome to the forum! Well I didn't talk to the actual Senator. I called her office, and the gentlemen that answered directed me to the liaison and t...

New Guy

Hey guys/gals Obviously I am new to the site. It has a lot of great info, and "The Waiting Room" has a lot of people sharing my pain right now! Today I finally called my senator, and her office was very helpful(they actually returned my call, same day!). The extremely nice lady I spoke wit...

Re: September Applications

I sent my packet in 9/22. Today I called my State Senator's office, and left a message with the liaison. Surprisingly to my delight she contacted me this evening. She is going to call the DPS in the morning to get it on the fast track, and then call me back. I am pretty impressed with the service I ...
