JTB59 ,
In a long winded way, I was trying to say when the people who have been waiting for ridiculous periods of time for their background checks to be completed get there licenses. that will show that DPS is getting caught up. If that makes sense. As that1otherdude says who knows how many people are still out there?
I found this forum months after I applied and that's where I followed others advice and started notifying government officials. Noone knows how many people are out there that don't think to do that. I have noticed that the august and september threads have not been opened in a while.
I think on another thread someone stated that noone knows how the application process works, or if someone does, they ain't talkin'. I was just throwing my two cents in on how I think it should be, and you may be correct in the fact that it can't be done that way.
I really do hope they are getting caught up, for the long waiters sake.

Re: Harris County Applicants
I don't know if I agree that they are getting better. You are not the first person who hasn't had to wait very long for your license to be approved. and that was most of my complaint that DPS had my application for five months and there were people getting approved in two. so either people are getting preferential treatment, or they just kept stacking new people on the pile pushing me down further and further.
The application process should be taken in order of receipt, no matter what Representative or Senator a person calls.
I get a kick out of reading the December and January applicants upset that they haven't received their License yet. I was in that position and wish I had started calling earlier. After I received my license yesterday, I contacted Representative Joe Crabbs office, who I had earlier contacted about the delay, and thanked him for his assistance in the situation. He may have not been any assistance at all, maybe it was just my time, but I also asked him to remain vigliant in keeping the pressure on DPS to be sure that applicants are not having to wait as long as I had too.
We will know they are getting better when the time for approvals drop on the replys here.

Re: Harris County Applicants
HGWC.
Trust me, if you go back and read the posts I have submitted, you will see I have been very critical of how the State has treated me, and I will remember it. I was being sarcastic when I wrote they should be proud.
Did i read your post correctly, and it says the state mailed your license two months ago, and you never received it???

Re: Harris County Applicants
I made another contact to Mr. Crabbs office yesterday, Mr. Phillip Ivey was very helpful and stated he would check on the status again and have DPS call me. Today I just got a call from the DPS in Austin stating the BC was completed and they would be overnight delivering the license. it's not in hand yet, and until it is I'm not celebrating. Hopefully tomorrow evening I'll be able to add some smileys to the board when I log on.FAAPOD wrote:I see now that you're in Kingwood. I'm in Atascocita. Is Joe Crabb your State Rep? If you don't get your license in a few days, I would definitely call Rep Crabb's Kingwood office. That seems to be the catalyst that got the ball moving for me. I spoke with Phillip Ivy over there.Totally Frustrated wrote:I emailed and snail mailed all. I, nor anyone else should have had to. After only getting the standard response from the Govs office, I finally heard From DPS saying should be done within a week. that was four days ago so we'll see. I honestly am tired of the entire process, and am not sweating it any longer. I guess its OK for the state to break the law. just don't you do it though!
I am going to remember this come the next election that's for sure.

Re: Harris County Applicants
I took my class in August and DPS received my Packet Sept. 5. I paid the same $140 dollars as everyone else. It does suck that people that haven't been waiting nearly as long are getting their plastic before me. obviously they do not work on the packets in the order they are received, as they should. I think that is what HGWC is getting at. I contacted State Reps, Senators and the Gov. as well. Obviously it didn't do any good for me, I can't hold it against the people that had more influential assistance. I'm just Totally

Re: Harris County Applicants
The state sent my packet to Harris County on 9-6-2008. Frequent calls to DPS did no good. Sent letter to state Rep. 1-13-09 and Governor 1-15-09. Will now wait to see if that does anything.
