Does this mean there may not be an instructors course this year? That would be annoying, as I just filled out my application.
Oh sorry for the confusion...yes, there will indeed be a CHL instructors course in June (15-19). I just spoke with DPS about the status of my instructor app. (processing..yay) and asked them about it.

Charles L. Cotton wrote:As others have said, the DPS course fee is $100, plus 100 rds of ammo (minimum), hotel and either 3 or 4 days off work. (3 days if you are already an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, otherwise 4 days.)

Thanks much. Do you have to provide your own ammo? If so, how much?

Steve
Yes. Unless it's changed, you provide your own firearms, ammo, food, lodging, transportation, etc.

Instructor candidates must qualify with both revolver and semiauto. Passing score is (was) 90%.
Ok, I expected as much... anyone recall how many rounds you need for the course including both revolver and SA?

Re: Costs for instructors course?

Thanks, James. I have that information, but I was wondering what you, as an instructor, paid to take the instructors course in Austin. I'm trying to get my budget set up for when they offer the class. According to the manual, the instructors set the price, not DPS.

Thanks again.

Costs for instructors course?

Can anyone tell me what it costs to take the DPS CHL instructors course? Ammo, course materials etc.?

Thanks!

Steve
