Besides, a belt is another resource. Cordage is a sailor's best friend, a heavy strap is bound to be useful in some circumstances, too.
Like you spin a main bearing. Drop the pan on the side of the road, use your knife to shave down a section of your belt to fit, torque the bearing cap down against the leather - just sayin', a belt can be useful in a pinch.

For my purposes a belt is a tool, not a fashion statement.
