You bugged them and your got yours quicker buy 30 days or so.
I think that's the same bro.
BriN wrote:So, for those of you who are curious about whether bugging DPS and your state reps helps, I have a little anecdotal evidence. We ran a little experiment in my house since I was very anxious for my license and my wife was interested but not quite as obsessed. As soon as I hit day 60, I was all over it. I called DPS every 10 days or so, I emailed and called my state rep and state senator on many occasions. I bugged the crap out of them. I received my "Active" notification on Day 143 (Harris County).

We made no contacts on my wife's whatsoever. She had no issues with the paperwork just as I didn't as she only had checks in Harris County just as I did.
The only difference was that I was an early February application and she was early March. She received her "active" notice on Day 179.

So, while perhaps it should be taken with a barrel of salt, in our situation, bugging them allowed me to get it a month faster than she got hers.
I didn't say I got mine a month before she did, I said I got mine a month FASTER... bro

And I also gave you the number of days - 143 for me... 179 for her. That is a 36 day difference. Last I was in school, 36 is different than 0.

So, to clear up any confusion for those that need it spelled out... I received mine in at the beginning of July and she is currently waiting for her's to arrive. By MY count, that is 2 months after. When one subtracts the month difference between when we took the classes, I still got mine a month faster. :thumbs2:

Yeah, but we are probably talking about a government whip that cost $6,000 and doesn't work anyway. :thumbs2:

So, in addition to two emails, I have now called her and left a message. We will see if she decides to call me back. Can't say I am overly optomistic. :totap:

Haven't called her yet but I did email her on Thursday (no response). I emailed her again on Monday (no response). I guess I will have to pick up the phone and call her.

Passed week 16 on June 4th... still waiting on BC from Harris County. All lame excuses. They could have and SHOULD HAVE addressed the increase in applications a long time ago. They just don't care is all.

Re: "Waiting Room"

I need any feedback from anyone who has had success with contacting your representative. I spoke today with Senator Patrick's office and they are telling me there is really nothing they can do. They called DPS and was told the background check has yet to be returned and DPS in Austin has no way to contact the investigators in Harris County directly to check on the status of the BC.

I have seen many people say that contacting their State Rep or State Senator has been helpful. I just can't imagine that for each and every person it was complete coincidence that their process got moving after contacting their rep.

Senator Patrick's office is telling me that they would love to help me but they only have one legislative contact number at DPS and that is where they got the information that there is really nothing that can be done. Does anyone have any information for a situation where it helped and what they actually did to speed up the process. Alternatively, the lady in Sen Patrick's office asked if I could name any specific representative offices where they were able to do anything so she could call them and see what they are doing differently. She said she would actually love to know.

Any information would be very useful. On day 105, background check is still in a pile in Harris County and I am getting increasingly frustrated.
