Molded ear plugs done at the gun show - beware
Had some custom molded earplugs done at a booth in the gun show. The kind where your ear is plugged for protection, then silicone is injected into the ear for a snug custom fit. I do have earwax problems and told him as much. Experienced excruciating pain during the removal of the plug. Bottom line ...

Re: Ruger 10/22 opinions
About a month or so ago I acquired one of the new Ruger 10/22's that come factory equipped with a Tapco stock. I outfitted it with a Butler Creek 25 round clip, an inexpensive NCStar scope, and a foregrip/bipod combo. I haven't had this much fun in years. Some think it's like putting a racing spoile...

Re: My Dog attacked by Pitbull while wearing my CCW
My wife is a dog trainer, and we have a very well trained and behaved golden retriever. That said, when we take him for walks, we don't EVER let him approach and sniff and play with another dog, unless we KNOW the dog well. One reason that no dog should ever be unleashed while in public. Do NOT let ...

Best or favorite .357 under $400?
I'm no gun snob. I've owned Taurus revolvers, Ruger revolvers and S&W. Got a budget of $400 for the gun show next month and I really do want a reliable .357 medium-framed revolver. Even used S&W revolvers seem to go for a mint around here, so I doubt I'll find one. Many sources tell me the T...

Re: Taurus model 83 in .38 Special
It has a spring, but it's not broken. I put 50 rounds through this gun yesterday and it did just fine. There was a dealer at the show in Mesquite Saturday who said that free movement of the floating firing pin by this tiny amount is normal in this revolver, and the Rossi revolvers as well. This gun...

Taurus model 83 in .38 Special
I just sold a Taurus revolver, and he brought it back saying someone told him it had a broken firing pin spring. This model has the floating frame-mounted firing pin, and it is "loose". Basically, it rattles back and forth a bit when you shake it. It will protrude maybe 1/16" sometime...

Re: Old Marlin 30-30
Update - I made the trade. Like I said - it's a Marlin Glenfield model 30A built in 1972. He refinished it and left it lighter than the original, but did a fairly decent job. Action is smooth and bore is clean and bright. It was tapped for a scope but now that's gone - need to find some screws to fi...

Re: Old Marlin 30-30
Turns out it's a Marlin Glenfield 30A with a birch stock and forearm. I was figuring on a 336. Still a decent trade I think. Probably a "homemade" trapper that someone sawed off at some point. He's bringing it by today.

Old Marlin 30-30
I have an opportunity to trade for an old Marlin trapper gun (carbine?). 40+ years old, 90% blue, and has been refinished with "blonde" wood now. Being careful on this one but I only have about $175 in the Taurus revolver he wants from me. Would you???

Re: Shooting a rifle on private property?
I called the local sheriff and game warden in Henderson Co. a couple of years ago about my neighbor who put up a blind on the boundary of his property. The only place to shoot essentially was onto my land. He has less than 5 acres. No laws against it according to them. They said to call them if I fi...

Re: Open carry legislation
I'm going to have to go with licensed open carry on this one. As stated before, it weeds out the people who are not serious about carrying firearms in line with the law. Keep in mind I'm not against open carry, if you want to carry, get licensed like the rest of us. I'll stay concealed. :coolgleamA...

Re: [How-To] Spot a hidden gun
Back when I carried my Ruger P-95 I probably was guilty of most of those things. Wearing a jacket in 100 degree weather is a dead giveaway. Now that I slip my little Kelt-Tec P3AT in the front pocket of my pants or shorts, I'm guilty of none of them.

Re: Never going to QUAIL CREEK again!
I have some land in the country near Athens where I do nearly all of my shooting. We're thinking of putting it up for sale, but think maybe I won't now. I remember now how much of a pain some gun ranges are.
