You're right. According to http://www.rossiusa.com/history.cfm, Taurus bought them out in 1997 to manufacture their handguns. I own a Taurus revolver (Taurus 626 Tracker in .357 Magnum) in addition to a Taurus PT145 and I've put roughly 1000 rounds through both of them with no problems whatsoever. I have heard some people disparage Taurus, but I've never had a problem with them.
