One of my relatives (great-great-great-uncle) died after the Battle of San Jacinto in the Texas Revolution. He wasn't killed by a Mexican musket ball...he was killed by dysentery. First of all, I don't think he's going to get a second term. His and Pelosi's high-handed treatment of other pressing issues like healthcare "reform" has pretty much guaranteed that. In fact, it has pretty much guaranteed a Republican majority in Congress by 2012 at the latest.

Well, I'm not going to say it's pretty much guaranteed that Obama won't get a second term. It'll depend on who emerges as the front-runner for the Republicans, and it'll depend on Obama's popularity during the primaries. I have no doubt that Hillary has not given up on seeing herself in the Oval Office, and I'm sure she'd love to replace Obama in 2012 if she can garner enough support.

I think you'd see more arguments for secession, especially in Texas and parts of the South and Southwest. I'm not a crazy militia type that would normally support such an idea, but I frankly don't want to live in a socialist anti-gun welfare state like California or New York. If they tried to pass more restrictive federal laws banning firearms or handguns, then I might to start supporting such an idea, as a last resort.
