If I were President, THIS would be my JFK "moon landing" speech. Not even a fraction of a doubt.
Once again, we agree 100%. If you're ever in the Temple, TX area shoot me a PM. I'll buy you a beer. :cheers2:

They do not understand, they do not wish to understand, they refuse to understand, and they will never understand. They have their fingers in their ears. Their answer to all who disagree with them is to kill. Your translation of your holy Quran, while subtle, is quite accurate and understandable.
On a side note, I am really tired of these Argumentum ad Hominem type statements from you. If you have an issue with something that a poster has said, address them specifically with your issue. You continue to paint this entire forum with a broad and false brush. This is not your first post in this forum where such broad, insulting statements were made about your fellow members if they disagree with you.

I'm sure you'll retort that insulting things are said about liberals often on here. You are 100% correct. The difference is most posts I see which are critical of liberals are general statements while yours are all directed specifically at posters in a thread or users of this board.

I took issue with something you said, so I'm addressing you directly instead of putting out there in this format:
Liberals who post on this forum seem to have such heavy observer biases that they can't help but call anyone who doesn't think like them ignorant, stupid, bloodthirsty, naive, etc. It is sad that they must resort to name calling to feel superior.
See the difference? One is an overly broad generalization that is insulting to lots of people (and I'd say a borderline personal attack, which is a big no-no here), and one is addressing a specific problem I have with a specific users post.

I only read a few posts in the full 10 pages advocating the flat out bombing of Libya in response to this. Your belief that "kill em all" statements "dominate" this thread shows more about your own observational biases than any bloodthirsty ignorance from other forum members in my opinion.

I'd urge you to reconsider making those types of statements.

I, for one, find them rather insulting to the people on this board, and counter to the tone of polite civility Charles and the mods have tried to create here between our members. You can make general statements about conservatives and I will not take offense. But when you direct these statements at your fellow board members, they start treading perilously close to becoming personal attacks.

To hopefully avoid backlash from certain quarters, I do not make any suggestion that the consequences of Mr. Nakoula's film were either rational or forgivable -- I suggest only that they were arguably reasonably predictable. I would suggest, however, that the rightness or wrongness of the consequences is irrelevant to the question of whether or not he might be liable for criminal conduct.
The question at hand is childishly absurdly simple. Will we allow Muslim mobs to determine the content of our Bill of Rights? Will we decide that as Americans, we have a right to freedom of speech, without considering the "global opinion" of a band of savages who want us to bow down to their stone god and its views on women, freedom and blasphemy, or will we decide that as Post-Americans we must consider the opinions of the "international community" and accept that freedom of speech is no longer feasible in a connected world?
:iagree:

What mobs of people do (here or abroad, of any religious or political bent) should have zero impact on our rights.

Re: Egyptian Terrorists Attack US on 9/11

Latest breaking news was the report that our State Dept had credible intel that there was a threat up to 48 hours before the consulate was attacked.

I'm not sure if State Dept intel would be a part of the President's daily security briefs. Of course, since he skips most of them, I'm not sure he would know either.

This whole situation is saddening and disgusting.

Not that it was a deliberate coordinated attack on America on 9/11.

Wake up people.
You're not watching the same news channel I am... I think both Fox and CNN have been saying there's likely an Al Qaeda since early afternoonish.
Yep.

Not to mention, a random, unplanned protest by Muslims at American buildings just happened to occur on 9/11?

And its an absolute coincidence that they took down the American flag in Egypt and put up the black flag Al Qaeda is famous for using? (You know, the one with white arabic script on it: "There is no God but Allah, and Mohammad is his messenger".

Pure coincidence, yup. :???:

Re: Egyptian Terrorists Attack US on 9/11

I'm sure a moderator will come along to say it shortly, but we should keep the discussion on what happened yesterday in Egypt and Libya, and not discuss religion as a general topic.

Re: Egyptian Terrorists Attack US on 9/11

Not sure if it's true or not, but found an interesting "eye witness account" on another site.
Sofian Kadura is an airline pilot who lives in Benghazi.

I was out with a few friends yesterday evening around 9 or 10 p.m., when we drove into the area where the consulate is located. All of a sudden, we were caught in a huge crowd, with people seemingly shooting on both sides – at the consulate and from the consulate. But it was hard to tell exactly who was shooting. We quickly managed to get to safety, to an area about 200 metres away from the consulate. My friends and I – who were all Freedom Fighters, or rebels, during the war – wanted to go back and see exactly what the trouble was, so I took my AK-47 from my car. (Today, I remain part of a volunteer brigade that ensures security in Benghazi.)

However, when we tried to get closer to the consulate, we realised that armed Islamists had blocked off the streets. They had automatic rifles, RPGs, and big machine guns mounted on cars. It was obvious they were Islamists due to their long beards. I told them I was part of a security brigade, and asked them to let me through – they refused. A large crowd of civilians had gathered, and many people tried to persuade the Islamists to stop. The Islamists were yelling that they wanted to kill everyone in the consulate. We said, “You know, there are Libyans working in there, too,” but they didn’t care – they said those Libyans should never have agreed to work with Americans. They also claimed that the consulate security fired at them first [Editor’s Note: we are unable to idependently verify this claim] – and I said, well, did you really think it was a good idea to show up to ‘protest’ with RPGs and automatic rifles?

"This is not what we fought the war for"

We stayed there until the Islamists left, at around midnight. Usually, when any big incident happens in Benghazi, those who are members of brigades receive orders over our talkie walkies from a main call centre. We received no orders. In fact, there was a brigade just down the street, but they stayed away. I was very distraught. This is not what we fought the war for. While I think the video is insulting, and should never have been made, I don’t think violence is the solution.

Today, many people in Benghazi are just as angry as me, and dislike these Islamists. But we’re in a difficult spot, because criticising them can be interpreted as being “against” the Prophet. The Islamists I talked to last night belong to a brigade affiliated with the radical Islamist group Ansar Al-Sharia, which translates to “Those Who Want Sharia” [other eyewitnesses and at least one Libyan official have blamed the group for the attack, according to the BBC]. In the past few months, it’s become increasingly powerful and well-known. Like the rest of the brigades in Benghazi, they theoretically ensure security only when the local government asks them to do so. The hospital, which was in dire need of security, recently asked for their help, and since they’ve been guarding it, there’s been no more trouble there. But when religion is involved, they seem to act of their own accord. For example, these past months, they’ve destroyed Muslim mausoleums that they deem blasphemous.

People are quite scared of them, because these Islamists seem unafraid of dying. There have always been Islamists in Benghazi, but during Muammar Gaddafi’s era, they were locked up in jail. Now, they seem to be making up for lost time. And until the government gives us orders to stop them, there’s not much we other brigades can do. However, I think they will have to be stopped soon, because what they did at the consulate went way too far.

Re: Egyptian Terrorists Attack US on 9/11

The Egyptians made their desires clear when they stormed our embassy, took down the US flag and raised the flag of Islamic Jihad on SEPTEMBER 11TH.

Withdraw any diplomatic personnel from these countries, stop pretending that these revolutions are going to produce western style democratic republics, stop sending them money, and drill here so we can finally stop giving an ounce of care what happens over there.
