This is interesting. Is the scoring for passing / failing something that each instructor can decide on themselves? This instructor who had the scoring I listed above wouldn't even left the students keep their targets. I wonder why he scored the tests the way he did? The people who failed were told they can retake the shooting part of the test at a later date for $50.

Hi,
Did the scoring for the shooting portion of the test change recently? When I took it years ago and when I did the renewal last year, hits in the 7 ring and hits on the non-white part of the target both counted toward the score.
I remember the scoring like this:
8,9 and 10 rings = 5 points
7 ring = 4 points
on target, outside rings = 3 points
I spoke to someone who took the shooing practical recently and their instructor only counted hits within the 8 ring. So their scoring was 8,9 and 10 rings = 5 points
Did the scoring for the test changed recently?
