Yup
And hopefully HB 750 .... because after it goes through the house, it will be easier to get through the Senate, due to certain rules. (I think so anyway)
Which makes calling all, what - 100? - representatives to thank them for their vote on the parking lot bill that much more important...

Re: SB354 as amendment to SB 5

Did Ellis just ask Dewhurst if guns are allowed in the chamber?

It was really off the cuff, during debate on SB 1584, after Dewhurst asked Ellis & ?? to approach the front desk.

Re: SB354 as amendment to SB 5

I thought about comparing these unfounded 2A restrictions to restrictions on free speech... then I realized universities have no problems violating 1A rights, either :banghead:

This looks like very good news!
SB321 is back from the House and on the Senate's calendar for today as well.
Ohhh, this should be interesting!

I just finished calling all 30 senators (phew!) to say 'thank you' for their votes for SB 321. Wound up having a very pleasant 15 minute conversation w. the staffer in Zaffirini's office about campus carry. Since she's the chair of the higher ed committee, there's basically a snowball's chance in hell that she'd vote for SB 354 as a tradeoff for removing the language from SB 5. Just too much united pressure from all the university heads. Plus all the hand-wringing from the Austin college students.

Re: SB354 as amendment to SB 5

Sen Patrick is talking about SB 15, and and offering a floor amendment to it.

I see SB5 is on the intent calendar... but not mentioned yet today?

It's frustrating, never knowing when a bill might actually get airtime. Apparently the order in which bills are listed on the 'notice of intent' page doesn't correspond to when they'll be brought up on the floor?
