Sure, but not signing a bill that's 90% of what you wanted is silly.
He is a major iconoclast to be sure, but one that's been a badly needed breath of fresh air instead of 'business as usual' in government. We always complain about electing new representatives or senators or governors who talk the talk during the campaign, but don't walk the walk once they join the club. Le Page has DEFINITELY not been in that camp. He's not afraid to call a spade a spade, stands up to the tax & spend crowd, etc.

He vetoed an anti-gun bill last session that would have been a big setback for 2A rights. If he doesn't sign the bill, it still becomes law.

AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage said Tuesday he would not sign a bill that would make it legal for adults older than 21 to carry a concealed handgun without a permit.

LePage, in a telephone interview with Ric Tyler and George Hale of radio station WVOM, said he opposes an age restriction added to the bill by the Maine House of Representatives on Monday.

He should sign SB273 in front of the 30.06 sign at Austin City Hall, HB910 in front of Acevado's office at APD Headquarters, and SB11 on the steps of the UT tower building.

Or would that be spiking the football?
D**n - golly - I like the way you think!

Yes. I've been asked to hold do something I've never done before, but it sounds like a good idea. I've been planning to announcer the new initiative this Tuesday, but the suggestion was to do it at a dinner event at a location that seats up to 200 people and record it. (This was brought up after I posted my invitation to have a debate/town hall meeting.) That way we can have the initiative explained and take questions from the floor. We can also talk about this legislative session. Then, all of this will be available on the Internet.

If there's enough interest, I'll put it together. However it is announced, I really excited about the new initiative and the difference it can make in grassroots activism. Hopefully Texans all over the State will share my enthusiasm.

Chas.
If it's scheduled for after June 20, I'd love to come. Will be out of town for two weeks :-/

It wouldn't surprise me. Which campuses are more deserving of CC, UH main campus and TSU ?

It depends on whether Gov. Abbott wants to spit in Bloomberg's eye. If he does, then it will be a public signing with great fanfare. (That's my preference.)
I'll drink to that, too! :cheers2:

You're confusing campus carry (whose still-pending bill has been amended to a 9/1/16 start) with open carry (which was amended to a 1/1/16 start).

Well said. I'll drink to that!

Now I think ahead to Jan 1 2016, and how the Houston PD will react to MWAG calls. I wonder if we'll have to adopt blue state tactics, like sponsoring trash pickups and other community service activities while OCing, to desensitize the public (and PD)?
