Don't do like I did!

sa1126 wrote:update!!!

I called DPS today and left a message. A few hours later, a technician called me back and said my license was issued today and I will have it in 5-7 business days. Today is day #95, and I will probably break the century mark before the license is in my hand

I will let yall know when it is in my hands!!!

It took 98 days for mine to arrive. In fact it took so long I wasn't used to packin & forgot to strap on the 1st time I went out!

Dubious honor!

Kalrog: 120 Days and you seem to be somewhat sane!

It only took me 98 days to get mine and I haven't been the same since. Inability to sleep, loud noises frighten me, constant impulse to check the mail box. My shrink says these problems should go away in a year or so if I carry 24/7! :o

Happiness is a warm gun & Rey's wife's tuna sandwich!

Hey Reysc....... Good to hear from you! Sounds like a good idea to get together for another shootoff. You gotta bring Leo and your wife's tuna sandwiches! You will love shooting Txbell's Desert Eagle and I would really like trying out your two new toys (a Sig & another Glock I think).
We are going to be gun poor if we keep this up.

And to you guys in waiting, don't worry, the path beaten down to your mail box will grow back in a month or so after your CHL arrives.

Anticipation is half the fun!

Hate to depress you 80+ day guys even more but my sad story was posted several (or more) pages ago here in the waiting room. For those of you who haven't read this entire subject matter posts, get this time line and see if you can understand.

My wife & I sent completed packet to DPS on Jan. 2nd, 2006. she received her CHL in just 54 days and mine came in 98 days. As I've stated before, I think, it's just the luck of the draw of which desk your application falls on. Seems to me they are processing faster now though.

While waiting you can practice skulking around the house in a concealed carry mode and read the posts in this forum for great advice and practical knowledge.

Good luck!! It will happen!!

Way Too Long!!!!

TRYPSIN:

Get on the horn tomorrow. That's too long. You should get a letter with a pin # within a month at least. Sometimes someone falls through the cracks.

Good luck. Sic em!!!

Hey, most people answering the poll question are saying less than 60. That sounds alot better than 50-100. :) Man, I hate to wait...... I was a miserable child 3 weeks before CHristmas...... <heavy sigh>

Have noticed that there is no poll question for people from 80 to 120 or so days without complications? Maybe you have read one of my earlier bleatings that my processing time was 98 day but my wife's was processed in just 54 days. We sent our apps. in on the same day (01/03/2006)!

Back to the end of the line

Sorry Redraider, your processing time doesn't start until you join this forum. So your 55 days don't count. Just kidding.

You will meet a lot of nice people here and learn a lot by browzing the whole forum.

It seems like DPS is moving a little faster now. Some took only a little over 50 days and some, like myself, took 98 days. I'm convinced it's the luck of whose desk your app. lands on.

Good luck and welcome aboard.

Had to go look in the mirror...

dubya wrote:Speak of the Devil!!!! Jbenat, our reigning man of 90+ patience. Congrats one more time to you. Do you still get a little ticked off at how inconsistent the process is? I am glad, at least, we are not in Illinois (or particularly Chicago).
Dang, Dubya, when I first read this I thought, you thought, I was 90+ years old. Would you believe, I waited so long, that the 1st day I got my CHL I forgot to strap on. Guess I had gotten used to skulking around the house in practice mode.

Yes I do get a little upset thinking how my wife got hers so quickly (54 days) and mine took so long (98 days) to process. Anyway, all's well that ends well! I'll still look into the waiting room often. Hope everyone else gets theirs in a timely manner.

It could be worse, I,ve got a friend in Chicago and another in San Fransico. They are both thinking of moving to Texas because of the local idiot politicos and their silly gun laws. I don't blame them. Sometimes we forget how good we got it. We are blessed to live in the best state in the best country in the world.

Day 98 and it finally arrived.

No more whinning about my CHL processing. Hope you guys get faster service than I did. I wish I knew what it would take to speed up the process. My wife got her's about a month & a half sooner than I did & I don't have a clue why.

Anyway the wait is over! I've gotten to sorta know some good people here. I'll be seeing you on other forum subjects. Let's keep in contact.

Mine, if I get it today, will have taken 40 days longer to process. All the time I hear about people getting theirs in 60 or so days. I don't understand why some whistle through and others just seem to languish in never, never land.

I think it's just who's desk your ap. lands on. We are going to E. Texas this weekend to look at some properties. If my license arrives Saturday it will just have to sit in the mail box untill Sunday night.

As someone mentioned in a previous post, We've lived a long life without a CHL. Guess another few days won't matter. NOT!!!!!!

Investing 101

Reysc. You are right. Unless you just pay way too much or buy some goofy gun, they will retain most of their value and they are very easy to resell.

A while back I got interested in die cast cars, mostly 1:18 and a few 1:24's. I wound up buying about 90 of them and I have six shelves of them lining the walls of my office. Great conversation peices though. I will be selling most of the collection soon for about half of what I paid for them just so I won't have to move them. Not a great investment at full price but someone is going to get a deal when I sell them.

I'm not known as much for my investment ablities as I am for my extreme good looks and modesty.

Just read the posts regarding Academy. We went there yesterday and would you believe wife bought another gun. A BUG. Taurus PT22 pistol for $189.00. It's cute, if your into cute. Prices at Academy are pretty good.

I snagged 100 rounds of 9mm shells. 50 fmj's & 50 jhp's. Figured I better buy them while they have some stock. They were totally out of 380's but believe it or not, they actually had some Federal Hydro-shok. Also bought a can of Break Free & a can of Gun Scrubber.

If I don't stay away from Academy & the gun shows I'm going to have to get a part time job!
