Re: Campus Carry -- Where Are We Now?
I really like this revised conference committee version. 1. It would make decriminalization really easy in future legislative sessions, by simply striking section a-3. 2. A violation under section a-3 is a Class A misdemeanor, not a state felony. 3. It is a defense to prosecution from section a-3 if...

Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
Campus carry could have been added to HB 910 in the House. It was not. Campus carry could have been added to HB 910 in the Senate. It was not. Were there not enough votes in the House to pass this legislation? Did Straus lie to Patrick? I hope we learn the details of what happened with campus carry ...

Re: BILL STATUS UPDATE: 4/23/13
FWIW, Lubbock radio talk show this morning was saying that Whitmire is quoted as saying he will not give the campus carry bill a committee vote. I found that hard to believe, so I did some searching, I believe they were quoting this article http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/2013/04/campus-carr...

Re: Committee substitute for HB 972 passes committee
I suspect this was done in order to get the bill out of committee. If it actually makes it to the House floor, amendments can be added that change the language.

Re: Texas House Committees Announced
After reading the article, I am more than worried that Campus Carry may not even make it out of that House committee... That would be a setback from last session.

Re: Special Session?
I just read an article that said they've revived the statewide smoking ban bill yesterday in the special session. Was that specifically added to the call? It wasn't specifically added to the call by Gov. Perry, but they are going to argue that it is a state "fiscal matters" bill since (th...

Re: CALL TO ACTION: SB905
So, if it makes to a vote, will Kleinschmidt still offer his amendment? Or is it gutted to much? Since it is on the Local and Consent calendar, I don't think any amendments can be offered. Someone would have to talk for 10 minutes when it is brought up in the House, which would kill it from the Loc...

Re: Do you support Joe Straus?
I voted yes, because I supported him during the election - I thought people were making a bigger deal than necessary about compromising with Democrats - but I must say I'm disappointed with the campus carry situation. Anyone see that handshake with Villareal? Yes, I saw it. And I saw a Strauss who ...

Call me an optimist, but I don't think its over yet. The NRA and TSRA have been known to pull a rabbit out of a hat. I think there is more going on behind the scenes.

Re: Campus Carry Opinion
If they cannot agree on a budget within the next couple of days, then it is probably dead. It's my understanding that it took 15 years to pass concealed-carry, so it may take another session to pass campus-carry. I'm in for the long-haul. :txflag: On the bright side, we could pick up at least one pr...
